Just read Ghost's 'transfer league' post. Other than Everton the usual suspects for 5th spot have signed ; Villa 7 / Pompey 6 / Spurs 5..

Everton as we all well know, score a shocking 0.

So why? What is it?

We know the club are a shambles / in a mess / etc.. What does that actually mean?

We have heard the stuff about 3rd party problems.. but all clubs have to contend with that right?

What IS going on? Why are we being given such a wide berth right now?

I mean is it just me.. or are the targeted players themselves particularly uninteretsed to come here right now? So why?

With the exception of Villa the usual suspects had far worse results than us on the first day of the season.

Lets not forget that.

As for all of those players they have signed some wont make their first team they are utility squad gap filler types.

All good questions right there.

I'd say that it's a combination of several factors that's got us to where we are today.

No one can point to any one factor and say "That's why we haven't signed anyone."

Because none of the other clubs have a manager who has a year left on his contract that is rumoured to be unsettled & appears to be engaging in 'calling the boards bluff' at expense of the club he gets paid to manage.

Both Moutinho & M'Bia have commented on the vast fiscal gain of joining us.

Smith is desperate to kick-start a flagging career somewhere that he's wanted & we were the only club interested.

I'm sorry mate, but that is nonsense. Moutinho would be an Everton player by now if we just paid the money. Sporting have gave Everton a price, they are just not willing to match. So the club have not stopped him from leaving, Everton just can't match the price.

M'Bia wants to come, Rennes will accept an offer, but it has to be the right offer them.
