So...this is an AMERICAN Evertonians' website?

If I could be arsed with American Eggball I'd pick the Patriots because New England is my region of choice for American Sports.

are you guys like totally ready for the merseyside rivalry game?
I think if we win it we could be EPL Northwest champs!

i thought a few of the replies seemed kind of americanny. Is it mostly ex-pats here or yanks with the gift of evertonianism?

We own America. It is true.

We also own Australia. That is also true.

There's a fair few Belgs and Dutches on here too. You may even find the odd person from Wales.

The Scots are the most militant though. Especially that one called "Chicoazul".

Decided to pick an EPL team after World Cup 2010 since I love soccer (been watching the US national team and the Turkish national team for ages). Started with the teams I knew (aka, wasn't going to pick Stoke City) and/or teams that had American ties, and watched games for a couple of months. Everton was included on that list because I knew Tim Howard was their GK, and LD played there.

1) Couldn't be a bandwagoner - so no Man U, Chelsea or Man City.
2) That left me with: Fulham, Aston Villa, Spurs, Liverpool (blegh), Arsenal and Everton.
3) Watched the games and Everton's personality just spoke to me. Hard working with some flair, great fans, some great players, great manager, Tim Howard, and LD was rumored to come back. Plus, I lurked on this website and saw some great posts and great people.

So, became and Evertonian in 2010 and never have looked back. Even with money troubles.

One thing that annoys the crap out of me: Everton's lack of marketing in the US. Drives me nuts.
EDIT: And I'm a fellow Californian.

I hated 'soccer' my whole life. One day after i turned forty I awoke with the worse flu I've ever had. I think it changed the grooves in my brain because I watched Everton play for some reason--horid match v newcastle, and suddenly fell in love with the team in blue. Football's been my favorite sport since then. Like it's said, We don't choose, we are chosen. Strange the hold Everton can have on people.

Inland by 12 miles of ventura. sb is 45 mins north. the toffs are linked with the ventura co fusion now thanks to ghrahm smith, a ex pat local

I think I was invited to a wine festival there, JR was the special guest, it was a corporate affair when I was in Sales, used to head all over then, racking up the frequent flyers, in fact I was constantly in and out of Yermar. No place like home, in fact at the end of my days you'll find me buried in Yermar for certain.

Sometimes, in the future, you will try to wriggle free, to walk away. You will find all effort is futile. You're here for the full trip now. Strap yourself in, mate. We are Everton.
