So 5th then

Was a boss season full of happy memories. Beating Chelsea and beating United and Arsenal so comprehensively at home, beating United away being the highlights for me.

In some sort of order:

  • Martinez has been a roaring success. ROARING.
  • Barkley is the kind of player we couldn't afford to buy, and he's a blue, and he's brilliantly boss.
  • Our togger has improved ten-fold in the sense of being positive and great to watch.
  • James McCarthy, if you're going to spend £13m on a midfielder, it's always best if it's on one who's worth £25m. Proper Everton to have a little ginger being boss in midfield.
  • John Stones. I mean John fricken Stones though. Who knew? He really does deserve all the plaudits, he's at Barkley-levels for being the best young 'prospect' in the country right now in his position.
  • Europe. We're back bitches. Although we chased CL to the end, it's still a pleasure to be back in the UEFA super league europa cup. Also, I know this is early, but anyone else fancy us for this?! I know there's some top teams in it but I think Bobby will love a crack at europe.
  • Seamus. I don't think I need to say much but Coleman is our most improved player, and the player of the year. Now the undisputed best right back in the league.
  • Baines stays, Oviedo (just everything about the lid) and tbh, so many others. What a top season and what will hopefully be the start of a very special Martinez era at the club.
  • Gerrard's slip... oops, maybe I shouldn't have said that. Never mind.

Yeah I played with the colours, I'm bored OK? All in all, absolutely brilliant stuff blues. Can't wait for next season already!

Was losing 5 nil to them a big negative? I'd all but forgotten about it. We turned it around to go on an amazing run this half of the season.

Was it five or was it four? I think it was four but I could be wrong. I drowned my sorrows for hours and didn't get up the next morning, and didn't watch any TV for a week.

The one thing that I worried about Bob was that Moyes was a genius in finding players in the transfer market (buying and selling) and also under Moyes our best players stayed here when we had success.

Bob has spent the money wisely. Even getting Traore was a good move on paper as he was one of those players with potential who didn't cut it in their previous club for whatever reason. McCarthy, in this system, is a huge upgrade over Fellani. McGeady, probably worth in that 6M instead of 9M range but defo doesn't look to be a bust either. Plus excellent use of loan market.

how much dough from this 5th pos?

  • Group runners-up: €200,000
  • Round of 32: €200,000
  • Round of 16: €350,000
  • Quarter-finals: €450,000
  • Semi-finals: €1,000,000

*EDIT* not a lot
