So 5th then

Excellent season, it's been so much fun watching it. Additionally, our efforts result in a European competition that should boost our confidence and possibly allow us to meet some good teams as well.
I look forward to some astute Martinez purchases in the summer from the McCarthy, Barry, Lukaku, Deolufeu type of signings and not the Joels and Alcarazs. I'm very interested in who will we get as our number 1 stiker.

For me, only City and Chelsea have squads that are a step above ours. We've never been closer to the top 4 than we are now and he's only one year in. Can't wait for next season.

Thoroughly enjoyed this season though a bit gutted we did not squeeze into CL. So many positives I will be sad when season ends but lots of reasons to be really optimistic for next year.... Are you listening BK? Back this fella, he is a diamond.

A very solid and respectable 8-8.5/10 for his first season. Martinez has done the first thing any of us could have hoped with qualifying for Europe (although many would've liked better cup runs.)
If it hadn't been for injuries to a number of key players and the typical Everton throwing away points we where really in with a shout at fourth and deservedly so.
We are playing a better style of football now and after the jitters of the first few games there haven't been any teams I didn't think we could beat or many games where we deserved to lose.
Now all we need is the board to back him in the summer, the likes of Barkley, Stones and Mcarthy to keep developing and for more of the youth on the fringes to push through and we look like things are definitely on the up and can only get better.

Exceeded all expectations in loads of ways but most importantly the restoration of respect and fear from opponents.
No longer damned by faint praise and patronising pats on the head the style and threat has made all and sundry sit up and take notice, Everton is once more a name to be taken seriously and fans are returning as a result.

Every pundit next season will have us in their list of potential threats.

It has been a fantastic season. We would have bitten anyone's hands off if they offered us 5th at the start of the season, and that we had a chance of 4th and couldn't make it doesn't really dampen the pride that I feel right now.
We HAVE just witnessed the rebirth of the School Of Science, and we are just at the start of a very exciting journey.

Brilliant season and one I didn't expect. Expected it to be a 8-10th situation with the players getting used to Berto's style.

Looking forward to next season already. Strengthen in the summer and make a run at every competition possible. Only way is up under Berto.

Brilliant, but should have been 4th.

You look at the dynamism and flair in our side and then you look at that Arsenal side and I know which one I think would have served the CL better.

They really should have been knocked off their perch during that run in.

putting it simply, if arsenal hadn't suffered an injury crisis of their own, we wouldn't have even got close. they've had some drubbings, but have a hell of a lot of class players. we had a chance, but that was because they'd played all their hard games before we had, they had a piss easy run in - so the positions at the time weren't a true reflection. we would have had to be looking at premier league record breaking winning sequences to pip them imo.

Positives:

- Return to Europe after an inexplicable 4 year exodus
- VERY watchable footy compared to last year, perhaps some of the best "play" in the league, albeit not the most clinical... YET
- Ross Barkley
- Seamus Coleman (ok he was already decent, but this year he has been something else altogether! I still have sweet, sweet dreams about him single handedly tormenting Arsenal last month)
- JAMES-MOTHERCHUFFING-MCCARTHY!!!
- Barring a 10-0 win for Spurs and a 10-0 defeat at Hull for us next week, we are going to finish above a team that spent the Bale money in the way a pillock empties his bank account playing Candy Crush
- We are going to finish above Man Utd after DM's fine craftsmanship and man management
- We seem to have developed a way to win even if we're pure gash
- Big Dunc's return
- Joe Royle's POTENTIAL return

Negatives:

- No trophies (I think we're getting there though!)
- Our worst hiding at Anfield since 1992 when football began
- The badge
- Kone
- Pre match Eiffel 65 (reminds me of inherently awkward primary school discos)

Exceeded all MY expectations for the season - As for incomings & outgoings during the summer.... I'll defer to Martinez....

all in all, great season imo.

i predicted 5th and said martinez would be good for us, so nobody can doubt any of my opinions for about 5/6 years.

There have been so so many positives, our squad is starting to look twice as big with martinez' willingness to use barkley, stones, mccarthy, lukaku and delafeou a lot and in the big games, and this means players like browning, garbutt, ledson and many more loan returns can already be considered 1st team fringe players.

not too many negatives imo, we'll have to replace the loan players, but have full confidence we will and well. Osman has been played, especially starting too much for mine and many others' liking, but i don't think he's been awful this season, just worse than everyone else, he's been better than last season mainly because he's been trusted with a more free role.

we've scored some absolute belters this season, we're going to have a shortlist of 20 goals for goal of the season and all the right sounds are coming out of the club atm and i genuinely think we're in for a great summer, even if i'll believe it when i see it.

martinez has made naismith into a player as well, which means what the hell else can he do?

NSNO is coming back

Shut up. No One likes a know-it-all.

Messing. LETS GO TO MONCHENGLADBACH.

yeah that was a big negative, but i tend to excuse it, our injury list going into that game was utterly horrendous, any team in the league would have beaten us and a fair few would probably have given us a spanking, it was typical RS luck to have to play us then.

we utterly battered them at home, which is the better barometer to go by with both teams near full strength, mignolet single handedly stopped it from being about 8/9.

An excellent 1st season.

Hope to improve next year with Ross and John having had a season to learn the ropes. Hopefully we will buy a few class players and see a couple more progress from the academy. Will be difficult to break that top 4 though as I am sure United will throw money around along with the other 6 teams in and around us. Just have to make sure we spend our budget better than them.

I am cautiously optimistic.
