How do you rate this first season under Martinez?

Yeah he had his problems, and we dropped needless points but for me it has been a superb season.

Unless you win the title and every cup there will be games you can look back on as bottlings, mistakes or just moments that cost you something. 99.9% of the time this is the case for all teams and it has been the case for us -- the defeat to Crystal Palace being the moment the CL bubble burst.

But let's be honest, we were a gazillion points off the CL a few months ago and it's only because of our own incredible form that we had a chance in the first place. Bobby and the lads have been brilliant.

We have some tangible rewards -- Europa league, improved points, a better position and as such more money coming in. And of course we have regrets and clear areas we need to improve in -- we desperately need to make some serious signings this summer.

All in all though, it's been a top class season and crucially the future looks bright once again. Onwards and upwards, with Bobby Martinez our beloved blue boys.

Outstanding season, no doubt but I think it is disappointing to miss out 4th because we are VERY closed. Just a shame that we slipped up when we played Crystal Palace at home and Soton away. We lost quite a few towards the end of the season which costed us CL.

Very good for a first season.

Much better than expected. Europe is a great result. And some of our performances, Arsenal at home etc, have been exceptional.

The minuses are the capitulation in the league cup which combined with a tough Fa Cup draw has continued our trophy drought, bad results in the derbies (against, tbf, a much better Liverpool team than we're used to of late) and this recent drop on form that's seen us drop out of 4th from a very strong position.

The lesson surely is that we need extra bodies. But we have the right manager, I think that's proven beyond doubt.

Can you now apologise for ruining the manager thread in the summer with your incessant hatred at the thought of Martinez being appointed and also for castigating those who wanted him mate?

Brilliant, but should have been 4th.

You look at the dynamism and flair in our side and then you look at that Arsenal side and I know which one I think would have served the CL better.

They really should have been knocked off their perch during that run in.

But we broke our duck of not beating the so called top teams, double over Man U will stick in the memory for a long time.

This season has been boss. I'm proper gutted it's finished, the World Cup will help but it isn't the same. Already can't wait for next season

Overall I'm more than happy, we seem to have genuinely progressed mentally even if our league position is what you would expect, we have amassed our highest points total, I don't think you can ask any more than that, we have gone down fighting.
