Honestly, I think our squad finally looks somehow balanced, centre backs included.

GK: Pickford, Joel, Stek
RB: Coleman, Kenny
RCB: Keane, Holgate, Williams
LCB: Mangala, Funes Mori, Jagielka
LB: Baines, Martina, Garbutt
DM: Gueye, Schneiderlin, McCarthy
CM: Davies, Klaassen
AM: Rooney, Tarashaj
RW: Walcott, Bolasie
ST: Tosun, Niasse, DCL
LW: Sigurdsson, Vlasic

I think we are quite well prepared for summer. If Mangala is a success, then we can just sell Williams and Jagielka after RFM comes back from his injury, then we change Martina and Garbutt for a real left back, involve Onyekuru so we can sell Niasse and similarly welcome back Lookman and Dowell for Tarashaj. That's just one new player needed to buy to have a decent squad for the pre-season. Looking good to me.

All six are liabilities. We seem to change them every week we actually need to stick to two and let them build a partnership. Can anyone honestly say they know our two best centre backs when the manager clearly doesn’t

Surely a defender should have been sold and a centre mid brought in?

We have a few more CMs......Rooney, Iceland and Benny, that makes six I think. Unless we sell Schneidercrab do we need any more?

FFS, pople have been screaming for a CB, a new striker and more speed up front since the summer. BFS brings in a CL striker, a speedy wing with a goal threat and a defender we would have killed for before his move to City and people are still moaning. Some in here just loves to wallow in self pity, but this is getting pathetic in a real bad way.

BFS brings in a CL striker, a speedy wing with a goal threat and a defender we would have killed for before his move to City and people are still moaning. It might not say much that holgate has been our best cb but to moan about having choice in defence is ridiculous. We have 3 aging defenders in jags, Williams and Baines with one already injured. We have Holgate who has done a decent job for his age when people wrote him off for being a cb. Some fans need to sort the heads out an think before they speak it’s not been a good season at all but come on could be a lot worse

We were after, needed and still needed a left-sided centre half since last summer. Funes Mori is the only one we had and he's both utterly awful and crocked.

...i’d class Beningame as a CM. I reckon Beningame is ahead of Besic in the queue, so game time for the Bosnian would be very limited. Vlasic also looks more effective in CM.

You can add Feeney, Pennington and Browning to CBs we have available in the summer. Those numbers definitely need pruning but sometimes an opportunity arises to bring in a player you particularly feel will enhance the squad. Mangala is left sided and is a powerhouse of an athlete. This team lacks athleticism and perhaps his availability was too much to ignore, especially on a loan deal.
