Sir Landon Of Donovan

I don't think anyone has particularly relished playing them for a couple of decades.

Yeah it's interesting in that you never know what you're going to get from us (kinda like Everton almost.)

As had been mentioned in the Tim Howard thread, sometimes it takes and early goal against us to get us to play some good football. Technically, we've never been great but we try to make up for it by using our athleticism and being tactically sound.

Dear David Moyes & Bill Kenwright,

I know I looked a little rusty for a few games there, but in case you missed it, I'm back:

2 Goals
1 Assist
2 Shots that Tested the Keeper, a couple of great passes that my forwards flubbed (gotta love MLS! which I do)
Multiple breakaways demonstrating my pace is back

Quick sponsor/endorsement update too: Nike, Gatorade (commercial on its way), Seiko, Wild Soccer Bunch and Upper Deck

Oh, and in case you miss it, I continue to mention Everton on twitter.

See you in the summer (if you manage to forgive me and if I can shake Don Garber from my leg).

Hugs & Kisses,
LD

I loved loved loved his time with us and he'll always be a blue to me, but I don't think we'll see him in a blue shirt again, and I'm beginning to hope that both sides move on instead of dragging this out. We have so little $, I'd rather us get a player who is younger and fills more of a need than LD does now. Unless we think Seamus is going to move back to defense, a right winger is not a need for us (not is an attacking center mid, and those are LD's best positions).

I miss him, but I think this ship has sailed my friends, and if he were to make it back, I fear he would be over-priced and underperform. His first stint was SOOOOOOO good I don't think he can exceed those expectations (maybe even meet them at this point)...

Close this horrid thread. Please.

End this tirade. The fod needs his LA sun and his tiny pond. We have no money. End of.

A shame he didn't come back this winter.

He's obviously one of life's good guys - my heart sunk when he signed the new contract shortly before arriving. It basically meant any chance of him coming for good was out of our hands short of a miracle. LD isn't the kind to be throwing hissy fits and basically taking the piss on the field (ala lescott) whilst fighting a media war against his current club. He'll be loyal. A shame as if ever there was love at first sight between a club, its fans and a player this is it. It takes some player 6 seasons to get Everton whearas he seemed to get it in a few months.

Landon you're the only player in the US that is approaching world class. It would be a crime not against Everton but against football for you to sqaunder that talent playing in a lesser league. You've already done your bit for the MLS. Imagine how many more of your countrymen you could inspire if you played in the premiership.

Considering the marketing potential it's criminal that we haven't found the funds for this player. I reckon he'd pay his own way on shirt sales alone.

God I hope it wasn;t just a one night stand, Ld we could've been beautiful together.

Maybe not completely but he'd sure make a dent in the cost.

Not to mention all the additional exposure Landon would give Everton FC in the USA.

That fact alone cannot be underestimated.

Exactly, in the long term is strengthens Everton's position and puts us resolutely on the map for football lovers in the states.

With all due respect to Howard and Dempsey (especially considering the monster game Howard just had) nodoby comes close to LD in the US squad. He'd walk into our team.

Listen right, i'll buy the pink monstrosity from this season and the yellow nightmare for next year if it means i can have Donovan printed on the back. BRING BACK THE DON.

Buddy, I love you and your funny and insightful posts, but if I want to post here, I can. Especially to express my hopes - which based on LD's form, marketing potential and upcoming Gold Cup, aren't dead. But partly I was also just trying to be expressive, entertaining and funny. If you don't want to read it, don't click on it, and especially don't post in it just to be mean. Until he is 36 and retired, or until the mods deem it's time to close the thread (which I would respect) - which they haven't yet, we can use it.

I wasn't having a go at you mate. I loved LD too and would love to see him back...

But it's not going to happen. This thread is one massive anti-climax. So i just get annoyed to see more Landon talk. It makes it hard to move on!
