Sir Landon Of Donovan

Please tell me you were watching as a neutral/UCLA fan.

As a neutral. Was rooting for TCU but they got bounced.

agreed.

While i'm sure dononvan would prefer to play at Everton, i don't know that it's completely up to him. the MLS holds his rights and if Man Shitty comes in with some ridiculous offer....

Gotta remember that he still has to come to personal terms with any club and if he doesn't want to go, then he doesn't have to, regardless if MLS want to sell. Really the ball is in his court.

for those of you in the States, Landon will be on David Letterman tonight

Hope he gives us a mention.

Good shout.

I read that piece by Carlisle on ESPN today and he pretty much nailed it. As I've said all along, if Landon leaves the Galaxy, then it'll be to Everton and only Everton.

no Everton talk (or any club talk)

lots of USMNT love

then him and Letterman went outside and kicked balls at moving cabs on Broadway

Along with Donovan coming back to Everton, I sure wish Dempsey would be considered. It sounds like the latest rumor has Dempsey being looked at by Napoli along with possibly Jozy. The Serie A bores me.

I kind of prefer it to La Liga, but no real reason other than I'm used to watching it and i have a feel for the teams. However, i cannot stand all the crying...italians are so dramatic.

I would cry if Landon Donovan went to Man city and im not afraid to admit it

Considering they have just bought Silva, Adam Johnson and have the midget that is SWP, plus about 50 strikers, it would seem unlikely.

Hes not stupid, I think he would realise he would get very little game time with Bellendamy, Silva and Johnson ahead of him.

I hope he see's sense at the end of the day he'd probably end up a squad player there and he's much better than that

I think HE knows what he wants (Everton!), but ultimately the league (MLS) will want to take top dollar for their star, and that puts Man Shitty as a front runner... so I'm more worried about the MLS than I am Donovan.

The City thing is defo in the pipelines, my best mate is reet high up in the club and was telling me about it.

The thing was engineered by Nike, they have been schmoozing with City and are close to tieing up a he kit deal, going as far as buying out (for a sum of money I wouldn't even post on here) the existing kit deal. The momentum from the World Cup is something Nike want to utilise and the emerging US market or something he said which I can't remember but sounded ace.

The juicy morsel was Nike being committed to promoting City stateside, and to quote his words (almost): 'they see City as the ideal club, fresh, ambitious and the relative newcomer - just like US soccer fans".

Anyway, long story short - Donovan won't be the last high profile Nike player brought in by them before the end of August.

Obviously keep it schtum as it might raise an eyebrow but I trust this lad. Obviously Partisaners, I just pulled that right out of my arse.

this makes me sad

please Donovan, do the right thing. That Yahoo article was perfect - wish someone could send that directly to Donovan!

I cannot ever root for Man Shitty.

If Everton loses out on Donovan (I would weep), but it would be awesome to see them make a bid for Dempsey.... but I don't see Fulham wanting to listen to offers. He's one of their better players and was their second-leading scorer in all competitions last year, why would they sell? and Why Napoli? I'd almost consider that a downgrade from Fulham.

At any rate Landon might be getting all the press right now, but in my opinion Dempsey should be getting some serious positive publicity as well as Michael Bradley - Bradley really blossomed in the WC. I'd be surprised if clubs weren't calling BM asking about his availability. He's only 22 and is clearly one of our country's top players.
