Sir Landon Of Donovan

Plus I already almost wrecked your pansy ankle once and I'm not afriad to do it again for Ameribrah. Not that I have any Chibrotle sized beef with you, I'm just trying to dominate.

Ha!

Great goal from Landon today. Defender tripped over himself leaving Landon a clear path, but that was still a sensational play. He had a terrible angle so he waited patiently for one of his runners to flash open. Never happened and Landon just roofed it from in tight. Also phenomenal set piece delivery all game. IMO he's been one of the best in the tournament whipping in dangerous balls on set plays. Still hoping he'll be back at Everton when the fall comes around. I think it will happen if the LAGalaxy can sign an aging star who can draw fans but not cost a transfer fee. Will weaken the team, but be good business.

USA should have won that game, but that's a story for elsewhere. Team can't afford to sleepwalk out of the dressing room.

One thought of mine. Landon doesn't look at good for the USA as he does for Everton simply because he has a higher class of player at every position for Everton. Made it real easy to slot into the side and he didn't have to do the heavy lifting.

Personally think the Everton and USA goalkeepers are pretty equal to eachother, tbh.:P

Let's be honest, Donovan is in every critical play that the USA has mustered up this world cup... take today against Slovenia:

1. Scored a goal
2. Put the ball on a rope for Jozy to head the ball to bradley for the draw
3. Sent in a beauty of a free kick on the goal that was disallowed

Imagine our squad without him... it's scary.

Not wrong on any of that.

Donovan did what he often has to do for the US side, when they are down, and that is to come out of the dressing room at half and fire up his team. He scored a goal from what looked to be an impossible angle, and that fire and determination lit up the team. Bradleys goal was great in that most players would have shot it over the crossbar. And yes, Altidore used his body and nodded the ball down for Bradley.
The goal that was disallowed, was such a bad call on so many levels. Bradley was taken down in the box and Edu was not offsides. LD got his team, from the beginning of the second half to show the spirit and grit to win or tie after being down 2 goals. Too bad the ref was so poor or they would be sitting pretty at the top. I have seen replay after replay and it looked like at least 3 US players were fouled in the box and a good goal negated. The worst official ever, and I am sure that we never invaded Mali.
