Sir Landon Of Donovan

Believe it or not, but Geoff Cameron, MLS Best XI defender, is actually a midfielder so we'll move him up in Holden's slot and have Eddie Robinson back from injury in the CB slot next to Boswell.

For Clark, I'm guessing we'll have Richard Mulrooney back from injury in that DM position.

So the bad news is that we're losing two very good players. The good news is that we have two good players that can fit in to their positions.

Now...whether or not Dom Kinnear can do some wheeling and dealing to find a few more players is up in the air.

It'll be interesting to see how it pans out.

Well-said. Rooting for the top 5 in the EPL is just like rooting for the Patriots or Steelers. A bunch of bandwagoning arses! (the word I'd like to use here would be highly offensive to most, so i'll try a very weakly-used, English-sounding word  ).

I am an Everton convert now, they're my EPL team. (Didn't really have one prior, just watched casually). Having watched more & more games, I'm starting to develop that fan chemistry with the players, and the team's willingness to work with Americans definitely helps the cause.

I wish I could get involved in more discussions outside of the Landon thread, but I don't know anything about any other player, so outside of this thread I have very little to contribute. All the guys discussed as possible transfers are mostly people i've never heard of either. I've been a USMNT fan for over 10 years, an MLS fan for 5-6 years, followed the EPL loosely for two years, and haven't really followed any world soccer at all..... so 99% of the names on this site are all foreign to me. I hope the Brits don't get upset about the Americans constantly using this thread.... for some of us, this is all we know. :)

So yeah, lurking is the order of the day for me on most occassions. :)

Looking forward to the match tomorrow. (y)

Nice post mate, good to have you. The more you watch, the more you'll learn about the side. We all have to start somewhere.

Didn't know that about Cameron - hopefully he's as solid at mid as he was at defender for you. You could say it would be smarter to keep him as a defender, being he was so good, and look elsewhere for another mid?

Thanks to everyone else for the welcome (y)

Exactly. I'd recommend looking around toffeeweb.com for some good info, and keep lurking (and talking) around here and you'll be up to speed in no time.

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm so new to this team that I can only talk about what I know and that's Donovan and " what music I'm listening to". I have no doubt that the more I lurk and read the more i'll know in the future. I also have no doubt that when Donovan returns to MLS I'll still be an EFC supporter.

Go RSL, Go EFC

Donovan usually does well in the big rivalry matches (Chivas USA, Mexican National Team). He also faced Liverpool during a Champions League match when he was with Bayern Leverkeusen and missed a sitter in the box. This Derby is a chance for redemption for Donovan. He is older, wiser and no longer playing scared with the big boys.

BEEN TRYING TO GET MY KIDS TO COMPREHEND HOW FAMOUS THESE GUYS ARE IN AMERICA......
i think someone glued my kids mouths shut

I had always enjoyed watching Everton when I caught them either on FSC or Setanta even when I wasn't rooting for any particular club. Howard of course perked my interest but I quickly became a fan of Tim Cahill. You need to see Landon's interview in the post match session after he scored his first goal if you haven't already. Cahill is giving him some smack in the background talking about touchdowns.:P

I will be nervous for him this match. Hopefully he steps up big like he has done so many times internationally. I just cant believe I'm going to be watching this in HD on ESPN2!!

Ha! Same here, man. Became a supporter four years ago (mostly) because of Cahill. (Also, 602 baby!)
