Sir Landon Of Donovan

So let me get this straight.

MLS = Three DP players per team, and Del Piero would be a DP due to wage demands, thus one of their current DPs would have to leave ?

Yup. I'm pretty sure a full season loan would count as a player no longer on your roster for that year. I'm not sure if Del Piero would sign only a single season though. Just rumors. They're not as rabid over here as they are over there.

Also, I was looking at the DC United vs Everton highlights and Chris Pontius had his way with a lot of the Everton defenders. Granted it was a USA preseason tour, I think CP13 can do well in the EPL.

Correct.

Anyone over 335K per year has to be a DP. LAG have three. For Del Piero to sign, which the story I posted yesterday says he will later this month, a DP has to leave. No other way around it, unless MLS all the sudden adds a 4th DP slot, meaning they change the rules for LAG which won't happen, or Del Piero signs for less than 335K per year, which I highly doubt.

Rumors also are that LAG will once again go after a certain Brazilian who's recently out of contract with Flamingo, and played with Becks at Milan. I think both Landon and Keane are gone in the near future and LAG already is going after replacements.

I would like them to have an American DP that counts for something like 100k and academy DP's that would count the same. Retain some talent until the wage difference is too much for them to bare and they demand a move overseas.

Problem is any younger American who would be considered DP quality, such as Brek Shea or Geoff Cameron have their eyes firmly set on Europe. All the top Americans aside from Landon will play in Europe during their primes until there is a substancial lift in talent across the board in MLS. Klinsmann doesn't want his USNT guys playing in MLS for the most part, and most USNT hopefuls have to prove themselves in better leagues in Europe.

I think it would be nice to reward guys who perform well so guys get paid market value w/o hurting the team substantially. George John comes to mind. That guy earns like 50k a year. He has his mind set on leaving asap b/c the wages here are ridiculous. Dallas doesn't benefit from giving him a raise while he's on his rookie contract so the only way for him to earn a decent salary would be to leave. Ream is another example that could've become a John had he not been sold.

I agree with you, and it would be nice. Just don't see it happening for awhile. From what I know both Ream and John rejected any and all extensions so they could leave when they want. Problem with MLS is they'll usually only offer 4 yr deals, like the one Shea signed and make it tough to leave when you want and European clubs start bidding. If MLS would offer a 21/22 yr old such as Shea a 2 year/500K per year deal(similar to the 2 year deal Bradley signed with Chievo, which leaves him with options), that would be great. But they generally will offer 4 years, at about 200-250K per year so you can't leave until 25 or 26, and make it tough in general to leave in your mid 20's. Every young player needs options in their early to mid 20's.

Guys like Ream who left, and John or Cameron have to leave to make the next step at they're all entering their mid 20's. If they sign extensions it becomes much tougher.

I know mate, i do to, i just have a hierarchy of who i want out Baines is at the bottom of my list, Vic and Heitinga make the most sense tbh.

Mnot Johnny mate. He's one of my faves.

If a centre back goes if rather Jags. Probably get more money for him now too.

Pretty much this for me.

Heitinga is younger, a better overall player and is fast becoming a fan favourite. I think he could be in serious contention for captain when Neville leaves in 2019.

Hes one we would look at mate, for an out before an in., we set forth agents to see what interest there would be in some of our players and Jonny was one, not that we are praticularly unhappy with him, hes just in a position we have good cover for, hers on a big wage and we would be likely to get a decent fee for while he has a decent profile - hes also getting close to contract renewal time. I hear there was some interest but not at the fee we we're looking for which was north of 8mill. Last i heard they were going to see what came up after the Euros if he had a good one.

All ifs and buts! As much as i think Johnny has come on this season and finally gets it - i would rather loose him and have Jags, Distin and Duffy - maybe Dier then loose Baines have and Neville playing there.

However, I beleive this is based on a really old article and LCAB has said no.
