Sir Landon Of Donovan

I am already delighted with Donovan effort in these two match, even though he is clearly not 100% fits and lacking some match sharpness.

With few more weeks training and couple more games, he is going to be amazing when he finally get things going, I believe we haven't seen the best from him.

I have said it and many others did as well, when we could attack from both side with more pacy player, it would made all the difference and unless you are blind then you would clearly sees the difference it made.

Donovan might not be a world beater in others eye, but he certainly is a damn good player who could help us in the attacking department on the right, and the more I see him, the more I like him, we really need to sign Donovan permanently, BK & Moyes do something!

We don't need a world beater. We just need a guy that can do a great job.
So far with Donovan the signs are good. Is his best position on the right midfield?

several options...though I think on everton with current cast of midfield players...the right wing suits his abilities/speed well

(and there aint one much bigger that the EPL).

Fellaini was a monster on the pitch and I must have replayed that pirroutte a hundred times today!

I'd say the World Cup might be bigger but since it's only ever 4 years......who knows. :P

And that pirouette was classic. I'd love to get that as multi frame GIF( animated GIF) for an Avatar. That'd be O so sweet.

Grant Wahl, one of the top sports journalists in America (the guy who wrote the book on the Beckham in America saga) tweeted back on January 9th

"LD contract has release clause."

and also "LD quick to tell me hasn't ruled out Europe."

Similarly, Donovan stated on an ESPN feature today

"Reporter: I know you have a contract with the Galaxy, but if you come over here, you get the bug, you get hooked on English football, and you prove you're good enough, would you not want to stay?

Landon: Like i said, I take it one day at a time. So for now, this is something I wanted to do. I wanted to come here and have this experience. If at the end of it, I look in the mirror and say wow, I don't want to leave, then I'll let someone know. If it's, that was a good time but I'm ready to go back, then I'll go back. But, we'll know that further down the road"

Could hear the fans chanting "USA, USA" on the TV when Donovan went over in the first half to take a corner. Then Moyes pulls him off in the 90th minute so he can experience what its like to hear Goodison Park alive and showing its appreciation for his effort.

This is the kind of stuff that might get him to stay. He's never going to see anything like that back in LA. Hell, he could probably go to the grocery unnoticed in LA. He's been in Liverpool for two weeks and is already notorious.

A big welcome to the Everton family to all our newer American Blues. Even if you come as Landon fans first you will soon find out what a great club you have been chosen by. The more you find out about us and our proud history the more you'll fall in love. I guarantee it!

As the late great Alan Ball once said "Once Everton has touched you nothing will be the same." I think we can already see Landon knows what he meant.

I am a MLS supporter of the Seattle Sounders and I wouldn't mind seeing him go especially with the Galaxy being one of our big rivals.:P

That being said, I love the bundesliga as well but I don't think both situations over there was obviously the right situation.

He seems to mix in well with the style of players that play for Everton. It is nice to see how well the players have welcomed him with open arms. The fans are treating him nicely.

I just hate that I can't make it over to the UK for my next Europe trip till September of next year. I would say to those of you living over there to keep giving him the support that you did today and maybe just maybe we can see him sporting the great Blue jersey for awhile.(y)

Even if another club tried to outbid us, LD would stay BLUE if only for the fans.. I guarantee it..

As a note of caution, I would be extremely hesitant to believe much of what Grahame Jones writes for the LA times./QUOTE]

Fair enough, perhaps, but Donovan's later clarifying remarks on Beckham's wavering late 2008 commitment and other concerns were reported by numerous recognized reporters. Considering how few people appear aware of concerns some other players' shared, it's reasonable to believe Donovan's clarifications did not receive the same level of coverage as his original remarks.

The pace got to him a bit in the second half, he was a bit sloppy in possession at times, but that's only natural considering how new he is to the League and how much football he's played over the past few months.

But in the first half he showed his qualities, he's bright and intelligent. His game is simple but effective and he gives us that outlet, something we've never had under Moyes.

Spot on that TxB. Almost a carbon copy of the Arsenal game where he had a real impact first half and faded slightly in the second. I dont know what that's down to - maybe fatigue rather than defenders figuring him out. He's done his best work so far chasing down balls pumped long and wide. He gets the ball under control and gets himself facing in the right direction really quickly and defenders hate it. Doesn't look the same player coming from slightly deeper carrying the ball though.
