Sir Landon Of Donovan

Agree with that assessment. It was a poor touch by Landon, but he did have the composure to lay it off nicely...easily could have panicked.

Actually, as an American who came up through the AYSO system (it originated in my home region, South Torrance California, and spread nationwide to become the largest youth soccer league stateside) let me tell you, that is absolutely wrong. Landon did NOT have his best game, to be sure, but that 'poor touch' is not correct (are you parroting the commentator on TV?) that is exactly as we are taught to touch in AYSO. It was a controlled touch and a perfectly placed pass.

Watch it again, he ABSOLUTELY meant to touch it as he did, it was a perfect touch! The pass was set out on a silver platter for Gibson, who to his credit killed it and got a bit of luck as it deflected in. This wasn't Landon's best game since he's been at Goodison, but for sure, that touch that led to his assist was controlled and perfectly executed.

I think he has been good since he has come back and has given us a real lift. Worked his socks off again and looks to have struck up a bit of an understanding with Straq as well. I wish he could stay permanently but we obviously don't have the funds. Thought it was a very composed lay off to Gibson and I think he knew exactly what he was doing - I don't think it was a poor first touch.

That would be five in all competitions.

To be fair, he was poor in the first half...did play much better in the second half.

Agree with that assessment. Sucked in half one, went into locker room, picked himself up, and came back much better.

Assist is still an assist. And rewatched the video - he knew exactly what he was doing.

It's 5 assists, but most importantly, other than Tim Howard's fluke goal, he has set up every single goal we have scored since he has been here. And yes, I include the secondary assist on Cahill's. Every single one.

If there is a prayer of extending his loan in February, I hope we do it.

I hope we extend his loan till end of the season and loan him for the rest of next season. Send some youngsters over there for a fair deal :D.

I've been more impressed by him during this loan spell, to be honest. He's had more creative responsibility and has stood up to the task. He has limitations in certain areas, but you've got to admire the professionalism and consistency of the man. He gives his all and every game is the same in terms of workrate and application. I hope he gives European football a proper go before he slows down, whether that's with Everton or not.

Must be an absolute joy to have playing in front of you as a full back .

When he hounded back up the pitch after Kolarov last night to win us a throw I felt proud , hair on the back of the neck stuff , that bit of passion and effort we have at times been lacking this season .

I love how Mancini put Kolarov on at left back to attack...I mean, that was never going to work with Donovan over there.
