Sir Landon Of Donovan

Great point about image rights. As for core market, his sponsors would love for him to go abroad, where more Americans would watch him as currently EPL is more viewed in the US than MLS (though the gap is narrowing). In addition, MLS finally signed a deal with a bigger network, so their need for him as their poster boy has diminished.

Agreed. If anything, the MLS doesn't give him the platform to expand those sponsorships.

And yes, I'm here in large part due to Donovan...

I should point out, as I have in the past, that I want him here because I believe we're a better side with him, primarily. But there are commercial advantages to it too.

I used to always think he was coming here after his contract was up but sadly with our finances I don't think we could pay him say 30K week.

We should have made a play for him after the continential cup or after the Bayern loan spell (which despite what was said if you actually watched him there he was pretty good).

I also would want him here because I believe were better team with him in it but... It's down to number crunching!

However good he is at mo he's coming towards end of career and the fee last time to sign perm was ridiculous. While yes commercially he could be great would it be enough to counter his big fee and age!?!?

If I had the choice of spending around 8M on Donovan or holtby say, I know which would be better for the club long term.
If we can get him on loan again.. Brilliant. I think that's the only real option unless his fee is now ultra low which I doubt very much!

Hmmm....

Halftime [Man City - Villareal] 1-1, enjoying the match with Moyes Sr and Jr. Second half should be entertaining.

Dan Segal and Richard Motzkin represent the players below:
Jozy Altidore (happy as a clam at AZ Alkmaar)
Landon Donovan
Freddy Adu (not leaving MLS any time soon)
Tim Howard
Bobby Convey (not a chance in hell)

Thinking the conversation was about Tim Howard, but who knows? (Is Tim's contract up any time soon?)

It is believed that talks have already taken place with the MLS and Donovan, and that he is excited to get the chance to return to Goodison Park.

Believed being the optimal word there.

Forgive me if I take this with a pinch of salt for now pal. Hope it turns out to be true like but, y'know....
