Sir Landon Of Donovan

This.

All that matters is that Everton found a way today - something that has been in short supply this season.

Most definitely! Teams have to find ways to scratch out some ugly away wins to give them a chance to be highly successful.

The pitch was also crap, still he made a few decent touches and helped out a bit in defense when we were getting cup up on the left thanks to N'Zogbia.

Would like to see him mix it up and put in more crosses. Seems that he is more used to playing centrally as he always cuts inside. He takes a good corner so why not cross it more often? Get to the byline and whip it in man!

It's not a question of his being technically unable to cross. As you say, he's fine on corners. It's just that his instinct is to attack towards the box, not the end line...

This is a very astute observation based upon having watched him since he was sixteen. He isn't your classic winger that exploits the byline.

You'll get more crosses from him on the left, but they will often be in-swingers with the right foot. He scores most of his goals in the run of play either from getting behind the defense, runs off the ball from deep positions, or cutting across the box. He also scores on the near post. His best assists are usually in transition. He is very accurate at pace.

[Poor language removed] rag says £3mill would bag him

Maybe [Poor language removed] rag but I suspect that's close to true.. including the sum to get him. Or maybe it's overstated.

But pay no attention to the commenters there. They know [Poor language removed]!
example: LD stupidly signed a new contract
The point is EXACTLY the new contract. MLS rewards its own stars.
Remember McBride?

MLS turned down £3mill for him after the Everton loan. Then he signed a new contract, and Pompey made an offer lots less. But then Fulham countered with {?we dont know} and lo and behold!
Who wouldnt rather live and play in London than...

There's lots of ways to make the money not important.
And it works both ways. Columbus recently re-signed Boca Jr legend Schelotto for less than HALF what he 'made' last season, and THAT was twice what he made the season before.
So... WTF! you say.

The thing is that Schelotto WANTS to live and play in Columbus, and there are 'other considerations' to make up for the official wage.

And the 'official' transfer fee listed in Donovan's MLS contract is there so LD can steer where he goes.. just like McBride. Aint nobody gonna pay '7 million' for him, except those who know the outcome beforehand.

Good assessment. Whatever the details are they are already specified in the contract so there won't be any controversy. AEG and MLS learned something from the Grumpy (Beckham) saga.

There is no way Donovan will be allowed to come to us for 3 mil It will more likely be around the 12 mil mark which I don't see us being able to afford

Well, you're on record. After all you've made 53 posts and me only one. So you're the expert and I'm only a crap newby who doesnt know [Poor language removed]!

Of course, you may be only postulating the obvious counter to what you hope happens.
Some do that.

there will be no postulating the obvious on this site:@

Bill better start saving now because i can't see the manager, fans or landon himself wanting to go

I wouldn't be as quick to speak for LD. The LA Galaxy situation has some attraction for LD. He is essentially responsible for the resurgence of the team, having put Grumpy and AEG in their places and working under one of his favorite managers, Bruce Arena. The Galaxy are essentially LD's team.

Secondly, he has to realize that his preparation at the Galaxy made it possible for him to drop right in on an EPL team and be successful right away.

Thirdly, the Galaxy have an opportunity to win the CONCACAF Champions League and go to the World Club Championships. The Galaxy are set up well to compete in these competitions. They lost in overtime to Pachuca (Mexico), which won the third place game in Japan.

So as attractive as the chance to play in EPL is to LD, he signed the four year deal with the Galaxy for some very good reasons. He'll have to turn his back on all those things to stay at Merseyside. Either way he will feature on the World Cup team, and quite frankly, I don't think his performance in South Africa will be much different, whatever happens.

We shall see.
