Just saw bbc article on giggs saying Ferguson was the biggest influence on his career? Well f me, the only manager in his whole club career was his biggest influence, colour me shocked.

Not the brightest bulb in the box is Giggs eh ?
As Del boy would say, "Wot a pa-lonker".

“Sir Alex was a giant to be sure, but I learned more featuring 12 times for David Moyes than I ever did from Fergie” would have been an amazing quote though.

Can't believe you could just underestimate the impact of playing for such illuminate as Bobby Gould, Mark Hughes, Stuart Pearce and John Toshack. Under the latter he has learnt you can fail at your job but if the next bloke actually does something then you can say it was all down to you for bringing in the younger players.*

*mainly forced because you have fallen out with all the rest of the senior pros.

Yep, sure makes picking who was the best and the biggest influence a difficult choice.

...I went to watch a Lancashire League game at Bellefield many years ago. Giggs was an unknown youngster playing for United and Ferguson had made the Saturday morning journey to watch him. Every time Giggs got it, Ferguson was full of encouragement; “take him on, Son”, “enjoy yourself, have a run at him”. It was a great insight into his management and a stark contrast to what was coming from the Everton coaches.

I read Ferguson’s book a few years ago and he said Giggs only got 5 penalties for United in his entire career. He always encouraged him to have the right attitude and desire to stay on his feet. Interesting comparison to the number of penalties Suarez got in one season.

...his sister-in-law appeared to exert some influence as well; didn't she get him to wax his chest?
