Single malts

As I posted earlier this week, I need a boss bottle for a big birthday.
I dont drink the stuff.
I went into what must have been the best shop in der werld this week and spoke to the owners.
They must have spotted my shirt UNDER my coat, and gave me a discount card, and said " We only gave you that cos your a toffee, we wouldnt give it to a red "
Now, I know that was probablly bollox, but it was ace service..

Yeah, it's nice that one.

Just opened a bottle of Glen Moray Classic given to me by work as a birthday pressie. Really quite impressed given what it costs. Nice toffee flavour to it on the palate, reasonably long, sweet finish, not massively complex or anything but I reckon you'd do well to find a nicer drop for less than £20 a bottle.

Went to the Tavern (Smithdown Road) for tea tonight, spot on as usual.

Beforehand, we went to the Penny Lane Bar, and they have a good selection of malts - Glenfiddich, Glenmorangie, Balvienie and Jura. Nice place and inexpensive too, give it a go chaos.

I'm a big fan of the full peaty richness of a Laphroaig, but get castigated by whiskey snobs for drinking mine straight with a couple of ice cubes. Without the ice I find whiskeys unpleasant. I never mix, and never add water (apart from the ice), but I don't mind a glass of water (or even a good beer) alongside the whiskey.

Am I doing it wrong? It's how I've done it for 15 years, so not really gonna change anyway.
