Sim City & DRM

Currently waiting for mine to come from Amazon.

FUMING HERE.

My mate has got it, "servers still down" seems to be what he keeps saying.

The game itself is great tho.

Just a pity nobody can play it much.

On course to be one of the most poorly reviewed items on Amazon.

Terrible really. I avoid DRM like the plague.

Hate the way they clearly intend on selling 70% of the game as in-game purchases too. They've left out half of the infrastructure - most public transport is unavailable, no doubt will soon be released in a "Pay just $1.99 to add a rail network now!" - buildings and public services are not there either.

Just a horrible glimpse in to what gaming could turn into if people don't vote with their (firmly closed) wallets.

What I don't understand is why they don't just make it an online requirement to login, then when you pass the security credentials and it's not a pirated game then it logs you off again so you can play the game online.

Greed from the gaming companies is ruining the experience of the end user. People will just switch away from PC gaming in their droves if this carries on.

I have SimCity 4 which is still good considering it's 10 years old so people who have waited since then must be really p*ssed off. EA have never been too good with their servers.

Digital Rights Managment

From what I understand, it's a game that doesn't require being online to play but they wrote it so you need to connect to the internet to confirm you're playing a fully legal copy.

No, it means its hamstrung with copy protection.

The buyers must come first before trying to tackle piracy to be fair. Its not fair that those who fork out for this get punished. DRM is a pain in the arse and had ruined this game. the big question had this move from E.A tackled piracy in this game?

Even before this I was thinking of swerving EA Fifa in the future as my casual game play suffers a lot due to them constantly checking irrelevant stuff online. The drm related queries take like an additional 30% if you only want 10 min games. EA out!

What's happened is poor but the reactions and ott outrage from gamers has been pretty cringy.

Just do something else for a couple of weeks whilst waiting for the server issues to sort themselves out, do people literally have nothing else going in their lives ? It's not the end of the world, the game will still be there and probably fully functional in a week or so.
