2-0 up in that QPR game,no way the visitors were going to score,I spent the last ten minutes just staring at the ref waiting for the whistle to signify we were CHAMPIONS and all the childhood agonies of near misses, hard luck stories, having to go in to school and face the laughing RS when they were winning everything, just dissipatedlollollol

I was at university in the north east but travelled down with three other Blues in a mark 1 Escort to see us do it. We went straight back that night and celebrated together in a student union bar. Looking back, though, I wish I'd been closer to my dad's side of the family so I could have stayed in Netherton that night. Would have loved to have been in Liverpool city centre that evening.

You're right, though, about '84. There was a real hint that we had a team on the verge when the Reds beat us at Maine Rd in the League Cup final but the semi final victory at Arsenal was very special.

I remember being below the window of the Everton dressing room outside Highbury and John Bailey was handing out free tickets to fans. Someone threw Reidy's jockstrap out of the window and I caught it. It became the centrepiece of a shrine to Everton in my bedroom for several years after.

Another great day,the first FA Cup Semi we'd won in my lifetime after the RS/West Ham tribulations,Inchy's last minute extra time winner was something else, talk about celebrate, the place went madlol

Saw us win at Wembley in 84 (and saw us lose there in 86 FFS!). And the Cup Winners Cup final (85) was an occasion to remember forever.

It is the most amazing feeling to win a trophy. It makes you push out your chest and strut, with a smug grin all over yer face!
I can't understand why our great club doesn't treat ALL competitions with the same respect and try to win those we can.
For the moment the League is out of reach, but the FA and League cups are both well within our capability and we should strive to win those (including the UEFA cup too)
I have always said that winning a trophy is paramount to league positions and I will always feel that way.
Take this season for instance, we may finish mid-table (at best on current form!) but if we won a trophy none of that would matter - the season would be a success.
A club is judged on it's trophies and it has been way too long since we last won one. That needs sorting ASAP!
In my lifetime we have won numerous trophies and been in the final of numerous others so I am used to us challenging for major honours, this trend needs to return for the good of all our fans, particularly the younger ones who have no experience of being a winner.

Your Mrs told me you still wear it - unwashed!

Can't remember details but I ended up in the park end standing for the QPR game... didn't realise you were well below pitch level in that bit. I remember some ole fella being carted off n front of us and some lad saying' 'throw us a wallet mate' great day ....I remember Gary bannister hitting the post before Sharpy's trademark looping header sealing the win.

Question to the older Evertonians on this board. What does it feel like winning Silverware with Everton ? I can't conceive of winning the Premier League Title with this current Everton side. I don't even know if It's going to be possible in the next 10 years. The closest feeling I remember was the FA Cup final vs Chelsea in 09. THat was an amazing run that I think started against Middlesborough in the 3rd Round.

Is it a nice sticky warm feeling inside?

It's an awesome feeling

In my lifetime ...

FA Cup x3
League x3
Cup Winners Cup
Charity Shield x6

Not a bad haul :D
Same as. The European Cup Winners Cup in Rotterdam was absolutely fantastic. We had waited so long for European success, even traveling there everyone new it was ours. What a piss up.
