Could barely remember the 80s stuff unfortunately so '95 is the one for me. I thought our name was on the cup that year from the start so wasn't too surprised when we won. Was a great feeling, I grew up down south but had a mate who was a blue and he had all his rellies down from Liverpool, all blues, so we had a good old knees up afterwards. Thought it would push us on to bigger things like the 84 cup win did.

Imagine being in a raucous Goodison (still terraces in those days) after a victory against QPR, two or three games to spare, and every single Blue - including yourself, of course - singing "Hand it over! Hand it over! Hand it over, Liverpool!"

Imagine that.

That's how great it is.

*Goes all tingly*

Wow. Post of the year.

I'm going to take you all back to 19th May 1984.

We were overwhelming favourites, we went to Wembley to win, Watford went for a day out. At the time we had won nothing for 14 years since that wonderful team in 1970 had won the League by 9 points and worse we'd had to watch the RS win everything before them in that time.

To be honest, other than the goals I don't remember a huge amount of the game. Complete bedlam at the final whistle of course. Then the strangest thing happened between the Final whistle and Kevin Ratcliffe lifted the Cup. It was like time stood still. As the Blues climbed the steps everyone around me, me included are shouting "come on" as if those final seconds before lifting the Cup were the most unbearable of the 14 years that had preceded the moment.

Then the moment when Ratcliffe is handed the Cup, it went quiet, he paused and then lifts it - the whole place erupted, great scenes, the relief, the ecstasy, grown men crying, hugging strangers, leaping up and down, shouting complete nonsense.

Of course, we had several more occasions like that in the 80's and in 95, but nothing was ever like 84 for me. I'm only hoping our next trophy after considerably longer will be even better.

I know it sounds weird but the 4-1 Spurs demolition (and the amokachi celebration) was better than winning the final for me.

2-0 up in that QPR game,no way the visitors were going to score,I spent the last ten minutes just staring at the ref waiting for the whistle to signify we were CHAMPIONS and all the childhood agonies of near misses, hard luck stories, having to go in to school and face the laughing RS when they were winning everything, just dissipatedlollollol

.....let's not forget the gap between our 1933 and 1966 FA Cup wins, although there were some championships in between.

You're right, though, about '84. There was a real hint that we had a team on the verge when the Reds beat us at Maine Rd in the League Cup final but the semi final victory at Arsenal was very special.

Yep, just typing all that brought it all back, the moment when Ratcliffe lifted the FA Cup was the most special moment of my lifetime supporting Everton as it was the first I could really appreciate. The wave of emotion was like a dam bursting.

I have never ever seen us lift anything live. Ever. Been a total Jonah at Wembley me.

Seen Bristol City lift more cups and stuff ffs.
