...if the West Ham deal is anything to go by, it will cost us to get rid. For that deal it said we had agreed a deal with the Hammers to pay the rest of his contract. Suspect something similar if he moves on, although West Brom are quoted as being interested.

....this happens with a lot of high earners. When Joe Cole joined the Hammers, our neighbours apparently paid a portion of the remainder of his contract just to get him off the books. I think the amount quoted for Heitinga was £1.2m left on his contract. Not sure what the agreement was, but if it was 50/50 we'd pay £600k but save a further £600k.
