That's the standard thing all strikers say in interviews. They want to appear modest and team players (which Wayne is anyway, to be fair).

The reality, if you know strikers, is obviously very different. Put yourself in his shoes, there's no way you'd give up the chance of club immortality. That's what kids dream of.

If you've read more personal interviews, rather than the usual post-match or press conference guff, then you'd know one of his main personal ambitions is to be Man Utd's record goalscorer.

But what about breaking records with Everton? Surely that's his boyhood dream?

Okay he'd never break the 383 currently held by Dixie but he could easily smash our Premier League top goalscorer.
