I get that you enjoy seeing young players on the pitch, we all do, but the team needs the old uns just as well.

If this is the case, I imagine it's only figurative (i.e. he will literally be available for selection, rather than selective). Slotting the lad straight into the match day squad without getting to know him would seem counter to Martinez' desire to make sure everyone's gelling and not disrupting the dressing room as is.

I would be disappointed if we brought in only McGeady. I don't think he is good enough to replace anyone in the starting eleven and would only provide competition for the bench, granted he would be a step up from Naismith. Tom Ince looks like a good buy, young winger with a lot of potential. As long as he isn't Drenthe levels of arrogant then I think he will fit in fine with the team. I think if we got both players there would be a lot of competition for the wings and some decent back up.

We had Jake Bidwell and Luke Garbutt as LB prospects. I had hoped one of them would be able to replace Baines, but we sold Bidwell and now Roberto is looking at Robertson which would suggest he doesn't rate Garbutt. Bit disappointing really.. it's nice when lads from our academy make it to the first team, but it doesn't look like it's gonna happen here.
