Wasn't he utter tripe on loan at Blackburn a few years ago mate?

Admittedly a few years ago. So might be better now.

Yes. He's not bad by any means. He's been a starter in the Bundesliga for ages and has played CL football. I'm not even sure why I can explain why he doesn't excite me, but he doesn't. Bradley is far superior if we're simply talking about US central midfielders.

I'm not a huge Jermaine Jones fan.

Bradley doesn't need to worry about his spot. No one is starting ahead of him.

He'll have his spot but he needs to play. If playing time wasn't a concern, he'd stay at Roma.

Again, I only see Jones as a squad player who would come cheap.

What was his hair like? Assume he had some then, when he was 13?

yeah, he had hair. I remember it was brown. that's about all I remember. It's hard to picture him with hair now. There were a couple other guys on that state team who play professionally now, but none have gone as far as Michael. Brad Ring is another player I remember pretty well. He plays for the SJ Earthquakes now in the MLS. Had the most powerful shot I have ever seen. I mean, just an absolute cannon. That kid would shoot from anywhere.

Was Jonathan Spector on that team or had he already gone to Man U?

Spector was a year older than me so he played on a different team. I would see him around and hear coaches talking about him, but I never actually played or trained with him. He wasn't around too long as he got bumped up to the national pool residency program (Bradenton Academy). But then again, so did Michael. Both were moved up to the youth national teams pretty quickly.

I'm from Edwardsville, down near St. Louis. Did you play with anyone from Southern Illinois?
