Depends.
I have one- that’s where my workshop is.
But we’ll be renting a house about a mile away while renovating and no basement in that house.

It’s definitely not a guaranteed thing to have one.

Basements are very rare to non-existent in my area. Water table too high this close to sea level and very sandy soil.
