Show me the passion

To be honest i was more than disapointed with the performence yesterday. I understand the arguements people make above and 9 times out of 10 i will always support the team. But i cant on this occasion i think i was more dissapointed with this game then the last derby at least there was a bit of fight in our performence that day. I dont care if we got beat three nil yesterday our attitude, commitment and desire was awfull and to be honest it was hurtfull given the context of the game.

Im not going to say get rid of this player and that player its to easy scapegoating and truthfully our team has progressed and put in some superb performences this season. Im sorry but i think yesterday we lacked the heart and they wanted it more, as much as it pains me. (n)

Great post. I should have toned down my bellyaching on some of the players. They have to have passion and belief that they can win and I just didn't see much evidence of that yesterday.

Cal I think you're being a little harsh - I thought Yobo was our best player and I even saw him yelling at teammates a couple of times on the TV - that's a first for him.

Back to Bruce's point, I think there is something to be said for a little passion if by "passion" we mean "determination" and "will to win", and I think we miss Cahill's qualities more than we sometimes realize.

That said, yesterday we just weren't good enough.

Agreed.

Yobo and Osman are the only two players who started who I would say played well.

I don't think Nevs reaction was petulance, was more anger at the scoreline, performance and being gobbed on by some norwegian.

I agree with the baffling 'passion' argument. Utter guff. I'd take a 'lazy' genius anyday over a 'passionate' duffer like Savage.

shows how support is a two way street, and how the very same players you moan about giving no effort at all are the ones you heap the praise on. very very silly.

Yobo had his "A" game going yesterday and helped Jags and Lescott on few ocassions yesterday. But in retrospect he did have a Yobo moment late on that he himself attoned for. But I saw good things from him yesterday. Difficult day for Ossie but he worked hard no denying that.

I think Fernandes coming in raised our spirits and the belief we could get a result.

Shhhh....

Whisper it quietly.

Don't even think about saying anything positive about Manny.

After all, he is [Poor language removed] [Poor language removed] and isn't even worth 1 million.

I agreed with you completely Bruce. I think fans are looking for excuses rather than take a defeat on the chin. I shudder to think what some would have made of EFC when they've hammered us in the past. I didn't see anyone back off a tackle, not even Fernandes and that pleasantly surprised me.

I would love to know what a player would make of some of the comments flying round here recently from people who ought to know better.

I'd agree with you both,Torres scored a great goal and we made no real chances to speak of so we got beat,we didnt play all that well and as much as i hate to say it we didnt deserve anything from the game.

Sometimes you do have to take it on the chin as you say,we where beaten by a team with one world class player in it but we werent shown up in anyway
