For me,if he does,it should be as comming on as a sub after the game is won,as in we are say 2 up with 5-10 mins left [i know its Everton]

To jog memories.

Yobo. Moyes' first signing. Here for 10+ years. Held record appearances for overseas player, Won player of the year awards, Captained the Club... was in the team that finished 4th in your words, "a weaker team".

If you rate Distin higher, sound. But that's irrelevant, my point was there being no call for Yobo to say "good bye"...
First signing for a manager is factually true, but not an accolade.
Here for 10+ years? He was registered with us for ten seasons. The first of which he was with us on loan from Marseille, and the last two he spent on loan with Fenerbahce. By the end of the 09/10 season, he was fourth choice behind Jags, Heitinga and Distin and had no way back into the match day squad unless there were injuries. Having played eight seasons with us, I should expect he would hold the record for most appearances by an overseas player. He recorded 250 appearances in 8 seasons, Distin's got 209 in six seasons... Distin's average is slightly higher. And Distin holds the record for most appearances by an overseas player in the prem. And he's three years older.

There were a lot of players in the team that finished 4th: some great, some good, some average and some poor.

If you rate Yobo as the better player, that's your business but the facts don't support it IMHO. I would suggest the reason that there was no call for him to say goodbye was because, rightly or wrongly, he had slipped out of most fans' thoughts by the time the second loan season in Turkey came to an end.

It's a difficult one this as Sylvain has been a great servant to the club but has gone on for a season too many just like David Weir did but sentiment has no place when you should be looking to win every game even the last one, so in the end no. Unless we are 7 ahead with 2 minutes to go.

This is very true, but I just don't understand why the abuse to these players, it's not their fault the management wanted to keep them on, it's very childish and bordering on kopite behaviour to forget everything they had done in the past.

Both players were very good players and absolute bargains who gave many years top service.

Big round of applause when he warmed up, and again when he came on.

Great to see the fans behaving with a bit of class and well in to Martinez for putting aside whatever happened and allowing the paying fans to do their thing.

Sad to see Distin go, but I know that time has ticked by and the time was right. A class act both on and off the pitch who gave nothing but his best for us.

Sylvain Distin described the ovation he received from the Goodison crowd on his farewell appearance today as "Amazing."

Distin came on for the last five minutes of the final match of the season against Tottenham and was handed a warm reception.

Afterwards he said: "There's a lot of emotions, but that's football. I'm leaving with plenty of good memories and a big smile on my face.

"It's always going to be a pleasure to come back here."

Distin has had his differences with some supporters - noticeably last season at Crystal Palace when he confronted some after a goalless draw - but he added: "I think the fans have a lot of passion and sometimes that can create a clash but when you see what happens today you realise it's love - and there's no love without passion.

"We gave everything and that's representative of Everton - the fighting spirit. That's what marked me in my first week here and I realised it was a special club.

"Before I left I made sure I explained to the guys they have something really special and they need to fight to keep it because it's a special club and a special atmosphere and you don't see that everywhere.

"I spent six amazing years here full of great memories and I met a lot of nice people. I'm not just talking about the guys I play with every week - it's the girls working in the kitchen you guys, pain the a*** asking for interviews every five minutes!

"That's what the club is. All the people working behind the scenes, not just the people on the pitch."

Edit - the video of the interview.
