The bile going on about about Ferguson and his line up right until kick off, yet not one apology. Amazing.

Less than 40% want him in the job too I see. So lets squander millions then on a 5 year contact for Poch who's won FA or Pierra who's name has suddenly become a lot of peoples dream appointment. Who is he?
Just over 2/3rds dont want him even after his big game.

That's because no one wants to turn the clocks back. Reminisce, yes. Sentimentalise, yes. But actually embrace THAT type of football and character again in the 2020s? No.

I think its all about A. If their ideal candidate can come in in the next couple of weeks, and B. If he keeps getting results. If you can get the ideal candidate in, you get him in as soon as possible. Doesnt burn bridges with Dunc, he did his good job filling in and had no long term expectations. If you cant get that ideal candidate in, and he gets a couple more results, you should be confident the team will be fine and you can wait until the summer to get your ideal manager.

With a 2020's manager we'd have got battered by Chelsea today sadly. 1 5 2 2 1, old fashioned 442 and bottle ruled the day lad. Yep get Poch or whoever in and get down wit da vibe.

I think we can afford to play football these days. At least the Moyes had the excuse of limited resources and setting up to play long balls and pick up the pieces. But we can surely have ambitions greater than that with our budgets today?

A lot of the people weaned on Ferguson (as a player) then Moyes period seem to distrust playing football on the deck as if it's not the Everton Way. Well IT IS the Everton Way. We need to keep trying to put a footballing team together because big occasions like today - a special occasion with the crowd up for it, we can get away with lumping it long. But the majority of times under normal conditions we'll end up being found out as clueless with those tactics, because the stadium atmosphere will be flat and the opposing team will eventually readjust to Everton;s reversion to the long ball game. We'll be knackered.

We need a progressive experienced manager. And quick.

A good, balanced and sensible answer there so thanks for that. My view is Feguson should have been given a chance when Moyes went. I too thought now the time was gone and it was 6 years too late, I admit it. However when he got the nod as caretaker on Friday something told me he would not let us down. Yes, he's sat there on the bench saying nothing for years, even getting the tag of cone setter upper. This I believe was part of the "modern" system he was embroiled in.

Let his shackles off and to me today he proved he knows the game, even leaping a place above a proposed saviour of our club Eddie Howe.

His tactics were spot bollock today, his set up with what we had available was perfect, and the result backed this up. The scenes at Goodison today have not been seen for years.

The man may fall flat on his arse at ManU with the injuries we have now but I sincerely hope not. Give the lad until mid January then we can judge him properly. I'll not lie and stand by him if he lets us down. And by letting us down I mean the players not playing to their strengths, not only results.

Believe me, Perierra couldn't have got near creating the day Dunc did today.

I get the feeling they have already got someone lined up. Maybe in the latter stages of negotiation of terms etc.
Maybe they are now trying to see where Dunc would fit in with all that. He may be part of the transition, as he is so familiar with all things Everton. In which case, he would be privy to who the candidate is.
My opinion is scientifically sound and based on the well trusted formula of two plus two divided by the square root of total ignorance times meat pie squared = one tap on the nose

Fair enough mate. I disagree with where you come from but I respect the reasoning.

Yep. I think it was noticable in the press conference today post match that Ferguson was making a case for continued involment at the club. That came over loud and clear.

I think people are going over the top to be honest. It was one game, with a new manager bounce, where we put in energy levels above and beyond. That cannot and will not continue forever.

Enjoy today for what it was, boss. But ultimately we played really quite poorly and got away with it imo.

See how we do over the next few games if he's in charge.

A breath of fresh air.

From this it sounds like maybe he had today only hence him going to absolute town. Players knew it too and delivered huge energy to make it a success. We
Dunc was given one game.

I highly suspect that we will have a new manager in place within days.

This. Also explains why he was so emotional, got to be Everton manager for the day.

Well at least the man will leave with a 100% record.......then go somewhere else to prove his worth. We'll be stuck with Moyes, Howe or Perierra.

Early days yet, only one game, don’t get excited. At least with today’s 3 points, it gives us a bit of time. We don’t want to do an United with Ole.

This was perfect for Dunc. I don't want his name to be tarnished when results inevitably gets worse. I'd rather someone else get that honor.
A hard fought draw at OT and the we get a legit top of the range manager. And I’ll be happy. A win is too much to ask for I’d be too happy with life. Wouldn’t feel comfortable.
