Shortage of strikers could cost us, warns Phil Jagielka

Look lid. Stop referring to Everton as 'we', you're a red, and I've got no problem with that. It was confirmed over a year or so ago (if any vaulter cares to check), and you only ever turn up when we've lost.

We're happy for a red to post here if he's sensible, but just stop taking the mick by pretending you're a blue. Sure, you're last few posts have been sensible but if you post utter drivel all the time you'll be found out, something you're well aware of.

I'm confused, what exactly was confirmed?. I think there has been something of a misunderstanding, if anyone can dig out where this investigation was conducted and it was concluded that I wasn't who I say I am, I'd really appreciate it too!

*waits for people to say Jags is clueless and there clearly wasn't any strikers in world football available in January*

Lukaku got injured right at the end, leaving three days of that window to find a replacement who we could loan or buy and get great value for. Three days isn't much, especially after you've already filled your last loan slot with another striker you'd thought would provide the depth you needed days earlier.

Again though - I'm giving you clear logic but you're been sucked into Football Manager 14 thinking you can just press a button and bid on players with exotic names.

*sigh mate, really so should wehave bought what exactly, a starter of lukaku quality, or kone quality or not loaned traore and went for someone else on loan, when really i didnt see that many good forwards moving on loan in jan

Bingo!

Goat, you'd have taken the piss out of every single one we went for because it wouldn't have been a £25,000,000 forward. Now go sit down and eat something.

Bango!

Huh?

You mean kenny Jones?

Sorry, but I dont recall us actually going for any strikers, apart from the interest in dat Belio Michy fella.

So please tell me which other strikers I took the piss out?

HEY?

Good little film I thought.

Kone is a penny share.

That's what I'm getting at, it would've been the same...you flappin' yer gums about Michy Batman. We're not signing an Ibrahimovic, EVER, under Kenwright. Deal wit' it.

I dont want a Zlatan, I would settle for an AJ as it stands or you know, just a fit striker.

I would even take a Jela or Victor at the moment, but hey, that moneys sitting in the bank waiting for the Summer.

I guess for the Jan transfer window, RM had to balance long term v short term. Does he sign up a striker/def mid who he doesn't want long term but does provide cover OR does he hold his nerve til the end of the season. It seems like he is taking a longer term view and doesn't want to sign up "stop gaps" permanently. To bridge the gaps, he has tried to go for loans and generally that has worked out. Unfortunately the injury to Lukaku and Traore are badly timed. We'll just have to try to get through this period. Def Mid is a bigger worry in my opinion. If we lose McCarthy or Barry then things could be really tough. RM did try to bring in Rodwell (on loan) but unfortunately that did not work out.
