Shortage of strikers could cost us, warns Phil Jagielka

Very good post. The summer will be interesting, I just hope that the knee jerking doesn't staart on June 1st.

Had to comment on this, read it last night and was sat chuckling to myself.

So Steve, not spending any money for the umpteenth window on the bounce is knee jerking is it? For somebody who says he does not have an agenda, sometimes little carefully placed pearls like this make it look completely the opposite.

With regards to the rest of the thread, I cannot get my head around anybody who is still being suckered in with the old "saving the war chest til summer" blag.

We obviously only bought McCarthy from the Fellaini and Anichebe sale, thus meaning only Kone and Robles were actually bought in for small fees with low down payments, the rest obviously being loans.

It's no wonder Kenwright gets away with it when we have so many gullible fans on board.

It's not about anybody falling for Kenwrights lies.

It's trusting that our new manager isn't a ballbag with no guts like Moyes was.

Why should Martinez lie for Kenwright?
I might be wrong but I can't ever remember Moyes repeatedly saying in the media that he has plenty of money to spend.

Trusting that Martinez is telling the truth isn't being gullible.

That break done Lukaku a favour restrospectively.

And Naismith could turn out better than we thought. Still need to sort out the striker problem in the summer. Looks like we'll have European football to help attract them too.

Wheres my 9 points mate?

As the post above says, you've misinterpreted what I've said....I'm quite sure we'll spend money , and more than usual, but it is the continuing myth that 'net sale' is the be all and end all which is wrong. Martinez will spend the money he wants to spend, and he will sell/offload the players he thinks will be of no further use to him. Whatever the 'net' figure is...whether its £10 million, £40 million, or anything in between is unimportant, as long as the manager is happy with his squad in August .Some on here seem to be challenging the club/Board/Martinez to 'spend loads of money or else'...this might be fine if you fancy a fume(which many do!) but its not the bottom line...the bottom line is that the manager gets the squad he wants. In my opinion, which is as worthless as any other opinion on here in the sense that it won't influence what happens, we need two strikers and competition in defensive midfield if Barry stays...if he doesn't we need two defensive midfielders. Martinez also has to decide on the future of Gibson, who looks more and more like a deal between Ferguson and Moyes, to the benefit of Man Utd. Just my opinion of course.
