shooting

These long to medium range shots should increase as confidence gets higher
I think the staff should encourage shots from outside the box (maybe they do) cause if it's on target who knows what can happen with dodgy bounces ,deflections etc

thats the thing though, we dont seem to have been havin' a whack for ages.
goals from distance tend to live on as well in the memory, jonny metgod for forest is firmly imprinted in my memory.
lets launch those missiles !!

we know 'teta can shoot

cahill has drilled 'em before, a few times as a blue and i've seen him do it for the aussies as well.
osman's put 'em in from range plenty of times, i'll see if i can dig up the clips later. we all say seggy's shooting ability. jagielka had a couple good screamers for sheffield, no reason why playing a different role here means his shooting ability should go down.

if i recall correctly, i'm pretty sure i've seen yak score outside the box more before he came here, and i haven't seen much of saha but we know he has ability.

i don't think we need to necessarily score from outside the box, but we seem to have abandoned that entire portion of our gameplan. its becoming predictable, noone expects ossie or pienaar to fake wide and play it in to the man running on anymore, because they always play the wing. i think we can catch people by surprise if we diversified our play a bit.

Yes I've often wondered if some of our players wouldn't benefit from some extended shooting practice. It's not that they can't get into position and it's not that they can't crack them in occasionally - they just need more practice to up the percentage that are on target, and away from the keeper.
I remember reading an interview years ago with Ian Wright where he mentioned that at early on in his career at Arsenal George Graham made him train with the goalkeepers so that he could get a better insight as to what they would do in different situations. He seemed to think that it was his ability to predict what the keeper would do that enabled him to remain a top scorer for so long.

I dont think Moyes likes players shooting outside the box to be fair.

I remember last season when Carsley had two spooned shots against Birmingham and Moyes told him not to do it 2nd half. Cars did it anyway and scored a peach in the top bin to win us the game.

I love Saha's alacrity, he gives it %110 percent out there. He is a top class premier league striker and we already know that. I get excited everytime I see Saha on the ball cause I know his always going to go for a shot. (and do some fancy dribbling (y))

i bet he can woo the ladies too from long range with a 'gallic stare' or a simple, "tssss tssss" the continental version of "hey love sit me face and i'll guess your weight" or "you dont sweat much for a fat lass"
