Sharpy’s return

The man's surname epitomises what's known as an inaptronym: he most certainly is not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Sycophantic, toadying, and complaisant are also adjectives that are not inappropriate when describing Graeme Sharp. The man was a fabulous footballer though, and he lent Evertonians some marvelous memories. My take on his post-Kenwright 're-emergence' is probably 'forgive...but never forget'.

For some strange reason, I cant see his mush without thinking of a Giant Panda. He is even starting to look like one. Seems to have saved a bit of money on salads over the winter.

It's a dilemma for me. I see both sides. Forgive and forget and no way, etc.
In the end I think a simple explanation from him would help. Not even an apology just his opinion first of all. That would help me and many others decide

One of the greats. Anyone disrespecting this guy should be banned. Any proper Evertonian knows this. I suspect that the people who don’t like him are too young to have seen him play and never saw the ‘80’s team.
So just out of interest, it doesn’t matter what he does he just should never be disrespected?

Your take is he can do anything, is how I’d read that

I'm very much old enough to have seen him played, and he was an excellent player for us. However, I remember his unwavering support for two men who were actively destroying this club and I also remember him denigrating the fan base that made him what he is. He tarnished his own reputation with his shameful behavior and calling for bans for people who disagree with your subjective opinions is both juvenile and idiotic.

…one of my favourite players, i loved watching his back-to-goal play and his attitude but the man is forever tarnished. Weirdly I can seperate the player and the man, one I love and the other I regard lowly.

I can’t start respecting the man.
I don’t know why people are getting their knickers in such a twist though. Plenty of footballers are as thick as mince and he’s no exception. I wouldn’t look to any of them for high standards of understanding or human decency, and I certainly don’t expect them to give fans any respect because most of them can’t even comprehend what that means.

It’s not like he gave us the cure for cancer then took it back. Who cares if he watches the game? He’s a pointless old man now.

It's not about a thick as mince ex footballer, it's about a member of the board that runs our club continuing the lie of a serious allegation that did not occur to insult the fanbase on a national level all for self preservation.
