Shane Duffy

He's got to play for us next season for a good amount of games. He deserves it. He was brilliant at Yeovil.

...if he's better than what we have then he will play. From what you say, he's in the top 2 performers out of him, Jagielka, Stones and Distin. I suspect if the manager's thinking is the same he wouldn't be out on loan.

I think he can make it and should be given a shot. Not sure about a season long loan to Burnley perhaps 2/3 months. AS for our first team, Distin is not getting younger and Alcaraz well it seems to be a toss up is he a useful squad player or a liability. then what about Browning? Is he better than Duffy?

No, from what I said, he was brilliant at Yeovil...

With the extra European games next season, don't personally see him going out on loan again, we'll need everyone we can get to cover injuries/suspensions. Think it's about time we had a big dominant centre back who can win ariel challenges, Distin is the closest we have at the moment.

Is Browning better? Well he has a lot more potential and has some attributes going for him that cannot be taught such as pace and basic technical ability but Duffy is a old school centre half that i just can't see adapting to the system we expect our players to embrace, just hasn't got the mobility or technical level, think he will go on to have a solid career though as teams outside the top 7, and hope i am wrong about my opinion on him

Tbf one was lucky to have been a footballer at any level and one was unlucky to have never played for a top 6 club.

Not IMO. Both have never been quick. Both are good in the air. Neither are great with the ball. Both decent markers.

All things most would say about Shane Duffy. Like it or not a massive part of playing CB in this league is dealing with big powerful strikers and dealing with set pieces at both ends of the pitch. I'd hoped Shane would score a good few to bring himself a bit of spotlight but probably never got the chance at Yeovil.

Can't believe some want to sell him for a couple of million. He has been one of the outstanding players in the championship, he's still gaining confidence after his horror injury, he hardly put a foot wrong in his appearances for Everton, we need a deeper squad for Europe, Distin is getting on, Alcaraz has had a mixed season, Jags has been out injured and Browning is untested at the top level but, yea, let's sell Duffy...

Doesn't make sense to loan him out again. We know he's good and so does everyone else. He should stay with us, he gives us something the other CBs don't and given our record with injuries he will probably get plenty of game time and that's not even accounting for Europe.

Barring Alcaraz, Duffy isn't going to dislodge any of our 3 best CB's is he, either from the starting 11 or the bench next season.

I like the lad, I think he'll make a decent premier league CB but it's pointless keeping him at his age just to be part of squads and play in U-21's. He needs to be out getting games at a proper level so I'd definitely send him out on loan and IF Burnley do want him then for obvious reasons I'd send him to them.

I wouldn't sell him that's for sure but he needs to carry on playing games like he as done at Yeovil at a good level to keep on fulfilling his potential.
