Shane Duffy

Jagielka and Distin will both get injured soon and Moyes will play Heitinga alongside Neville at centre back. There will then be a re-shuffle when Heitinga gets injured which sees Coleman go to right back as Hibbert is pushed central and Naismith plays wide, with Shane Duffy remaining on the bench. David Moyes - popcorn master.

I've seen a lot of him and Send has got him spot on although that's not having a go at him.

He's very, very good at headers, an excellent tackler and he also hits a good ball, freekicks, pens etc so his distribution can certainly be worked on and should get better as he gets more comfortable at this level. He is a top class defender and I remember the Everton youth side playing Blackburn when him and Phil Jones (then centre half) where on the same pitch and the program had an article about Duffy being the best defender in the country for his age.

Duffy's very good, ideal for English football and should be in our team now. He reminds me a lot of Tony Adams in how he plays.

Just imagine if he'd made the mistakes Heitinga has lately, Moyes would of finished his career.

I can't help but think that the only reason Heitinga was playing was to show him off to potential buyers. He'd shown to be error-prone to a ridiculous degree. Duffy has never been shown to be as problematic and effort-poor as Heitinga, even with being so much younger. I also think that Moyes background makes him love a CB with some header scoring potential. He certainly has that, seems like he scores quite a bit from corners and set plays for the U21s.

Sounds like he might finally be above Heitinga in the pecking order. Thank god! I'd play him with Distin against Oldham and put Jags right back if Coleman isn't fit.

Might be a good idea to be honest. After the last leg, Oldham know they have a chance of out-grocking us. Having 3 of our own grocks on the pitch would help big time.

Very much looking forward to the prospect of a back 4 of:

Baines Duffy Stones Coleman.

Would be truly boss that. Still a few years away though unfortunately.

I'd disagree. Distin and Jags coped fine when the big lad came on. It was the fact they through the kitchen sink at us and we decided to sit deep and let the pressure build they equalised.

We should be playing these off the park with football, not grocking out

We struggled up against smith as soon as he came on.
