Shane Duffy Emergency Loan

Delighted to see Duffy go out on loan. It will do him the world of good to get first team games in the Championship. it will give Moyes and his team of coaches and scouts a chance to see if he's up for it. If he playes brilliantly he will probably figure more next season. If he turns out to be a lemon (which i firmly believe he won't) then we can sell him off.

Some teams (Spurs? Arsenal?) no longer run reserve teams in the league and instead send most of them out on loan or play friendlies. Loans serve a lot of purposes: let players who may not make it get their faces known (see Schumacher interview); maybe gets a sale price (or help in future negotiation) for someone who is stuck behind a crowd or surplus to requirements for whatever reason; and gets competitive experience for those who may make it (e.g. Coleman, Osman).

According to my work colleague, Shane Duffy's Dad has been on the Burnley message boards panning Eddie Howe for dropping Duffy after one appearance.

I was just wondering if anyone knew how well he did in their defeat to Ipswich.

That's poor form if so.

He has been sent back from his loan spell, which doesn't bode well for his future.

From twitter: Good results for the lads, wish them luck and hope them getting to the play offs! Back to everton for a strong end to the season !
