England lacked a bit of midfield magic. Someone who could take the ball, drive forward and play off. Sadly that almost describes Barkley.

I think Southgate has to take some blame. Of course he's done well with this young squad but in both games where we went into extra time, he had the team drop off and sit deep. I'm not sure what the intent was but the result was giving Croatia (and Colombia) space on the ball letting them pick out passes when we should have been pressing them and keeping a high line. We also don't play to our best player's (Kane's) strengths at all.

I would say very restrained considering the stirring from foreigners. Suppose that's because we are brought up the English way and show restraint under fire.
