Sean Dyche

Was Dyche treated harshly by Nottingham Forest?

78% of neutrals felt so on BBC.

Dyche certainly felt he was treated harshly - he highlighted how he'd just been nominated for manager of the month.

Jeez, life comes at you quick Sean.

Harshly? No, I'm sure his bank account would tell a different story.

Stupidly? Yes. He had the same amount of points in his last three Notts Forest matches as Vitor Pereira had in three months at Wolves.

He would have kept them up, but Marinakis had two weeks of idle time so he spun the managerial wheel of misfortune again.

Every neutral and the media said all of this when we sacked him, as well as many of his acolytes on here. Forest will be fine, they would’ve been safe under him eventually as well and they’ll be safe under Pereira because their squad is too good to go down. As I predicted, just staying up isn’t and never has been the aim for their owner after plowing £450m into the first team squad. They should not still be within touching distance of the relegation zone at this point and that’s why he has been sacked.

Couldn't stand the bloke when he was Burnley manager.

Then, he become Everton manager at our lowest ebb.

Sat 19th with the lowest points total in our history going into February, having just sold a big player with league leaders Arsenal x2 and Liverpool at Anfield due within the first 5 games.

Always grateful to the bloke for keeping us up when I thought we were gone. I shared my view that January why I thought we were doomed - most did. We were bookies, Opta and most Evertonians, even the usually half glass full felt we were about to go.

We stayed up.

Rather than celebrate and first pump and hug the board like the previous manager did the season before, he declared it wasn't good enough and the board needed to get a grip.

They didn't - more sales/profit was needed, and after 2 successive seasons of surviving on the final home game - we get battered by point deductions. After Palace, after Bournemouth if you told fans no investment and point deductions you wouldn't have given us much hope. Perspective wise, we think we're doing great now - take 10 points from us now, and we sit 17th and a result from relegation. Still, in that only full season Dyche had, we earned the points to finish 12th, closer to Europe than relegation. A great effort considering the chaos off the field.

Then, the wheels come off. That's football. It happens, pretty much every manager becomes a villain. His limited methods started to fail, and as soon as new owners come in, he had to go. He knew it, TFG knew it.

For me, the healthy thing is acknowledge the job he did in keeping us up, and appreciate he was only Everton manager as a symptom of the failings of Moshiri and the custodians of the club at the time. Day one of his appointment he admitted he shouldn't be Everton manager.

He did his job, he kept us a Premier League team while we had to make profit after profit until we got new owners.

There, that should set us up nicely.

Oh, can someone tag me on his first appearence on talkSport? I want to be here for when he talks up his record win rate at Nottingham Forest.
In a nutshell 👏

There's still absolutely no way that 47.1% thing isn't made up - it doesn't work in any way you look at it when he was sacked, can anyone work it out?

Yeah it’s a lie made up by one of his media mates and people are too lazy to check whether it’s even accurate. 25 games 10 wins in all competitions, 19 games 6 wins in the league. His win percentage is lower than both Steve Cooper’s and Martin O’Neill’s and as far as I know neither of them had the luxury of playing against no mark teams assembled for a fraction of their value, in a European competition that another manager had qualified them for to fluff up the numbers.

I predict this will be one of the most popular threads on GOT for a long time. Powered by a a handful of posters who just can’t thank their gaffer and move on with their lives.

Felt very big Sam to me. Got us safe and organized, then played like he was trying to get us safe again, even though relegation wasn't a consideration.
Don't want to hate them, just want them to change their tactics and objectives to the next level. Their inability or refusal to do so brings the hate.
100%

Under Ancelotti, you could see the attempt to balance attacking versus the gamble of having to give up some of the defensive shape and strength. I don't consider Fat Sam or Dyche to be of the same level, but to not even attempt to expand our play and try and progress after the defensive side is working is unforgiveable unless the team is hemorrhaging goals.

Fat Sam is worse because he seemed actually to choose against progression in playing style. Dyche seemed not to be able to which doesn't gain my ire so much but he is too limited to be more than a fire fighter.

Moyes is better, Martinez was too much. The two in the Goldilocks zone were Ancelotti and Silva - but Silva wasn't as flexible. I'm not including Koeman or FSW as I despise them. I am not including Lampard as he wasn't able to get the team to perform so can't tell.

Good luck to us if we find a likeable enough person with tactical flexibility and the ability to balance defence and attack (still think that's Baines). Oh well back on topic, Dyche is rubbish.

Or prat’s like yourself who come after posters who don’t accept he ‘saved the club’ or ‘performed a miracle’.

Sadly for you there will always be people who see him a narcissist dinosaur and a totally inept football manager. For me, always was, is and will be.

Done nothing to deserve a ‘thank you’ from me, let alone the God status from people like you. [Poor language removed] that
