2023/24 Sean Dyche

We all know that we would not be in relegation danger and need 3-4 wins in 15 to gain safety without the deduction this year as it might sum to 5-15 points depending on what the approval and 2nd punishment will bring. I am confident that we stay up. Would you keep Dyche in case of relegation? He did get promoted 2x with Burnley, once directy after a relegation. So he has some experience in that at least.

Take us further??

How about we focus on staying where we are for a bit first? (Without the points deduction obviously).

No money, no structure at the club, barely any players and evidently some unrealistic fans. I'm sure they will be beating the door down to come here and take us further!
The first 11 is good premier league side , and we have better options than recent years off the bench. He has a very low ceiling and doubt he would change his style if more players were available. This narrative that there isn’t anyone better than him is ridiculous. Plenty of managers would jump at the chance to manage us

The narrative is we are crap and need to stay up and nothing else matters right now

Under that narrative 29pts is great

There is no narrative there's nobody better than him, it's a straw man argument

Its a terrible side with zero depth. A couple of decent players and not much behind it, there is a reason why we have been struggling for a few seasons now under multiple managers.

He has never been in a position to show if he can do more, it doesnt matter if he can anyway as we dont need that right now, we need someone to get us clear of where we are and then we can push on from there if need be. Worrying about the future and pushing on is worthless if we dont get through the position we are in right now.

Plenty of managers may very well jump at the chance of managing us, they would all end up with the same issues though.

I agree with that. We have a hard-working squad again, for what Dyche deserves some credits. We are among the best at tackles, interceptions, ball recoveries and distance per 90 min. A lot of goals from set pieces. We clearly have problems in possession, despite we create more chances and score more comparing to last season. But you can see the lack of technical abilities in the squad and the open play. Alli and Gomes are probably the best there, but almost always injured.

The squad has the ability to be top half I think with one or two additions. Dyche had 10 years at Burnley and didn’t change his style. He also took them down twice. Short term it’s just about ok but in the summer we should be looking to bring in someone better that’s got more about them and can really get us moving forward with the likes of Pickford Branthwaite Onana McNeil etc

It's an interesting one isn't it. I suppose the argument is that put the 10 points on and we are exactly in the place you describe, 11/12th and a player or two off top ten.

No doubt he is not the most progressive manager but genuinely not sure who would do better with this lot.

Depending on the outcome of this season (points deductions/appeals/change of ownership) will have a big impact on the 'right' time to move him on to be honest. If we just about survive (points deduction(s) impacting our league placing) and there's no resolution to our ownership situation, then keeping Dyche would maintain at least some stability.

If our points deduction(s) are completely thrown out, we comfortably finish mid-table and we have shiny new owners on day 1 of the transfer window who bring with them mega sponsorship which fixes our P&S 'status', then maybe look into sounding out a new manager.

For what it's worth... I think we're going to be closer to the former situation rather than the latter.

Who are the additions Mbappe and Bellingham?
