It's interesting when listening to all these pundits (and god knows there's a plentiful supply of pundits these days) telling all and sundry, and quite rightly, what a great job Moyes is doing for us now, that none seem to mention how p*** poor Dyche had been this season with the same squad. There was almost universal support for him in the media (special mention to Mr Merson) to stay when it was mooted that our new owners where looking at his position, but silence now on his inability to get a tune out of a bunch of lads who've just accumulated 13 points in 5 league matches, scoring 12 goals ("the hardest thing in the game") in that period.

I thought we'd be on about 23 points = clear of relegation.
That's all that was ever claimed for Dyche: the other teams were dire and we'd be safe keeping him on and then surviving this season so that TFGs preferred manager could be brought in then.
We should've stuck to that plan...I still believe that even though we have 30 points and are all but safe right now.
TFG dont know the league, they panicked and now we're 'stuck with Moyes' as the Everton fan song goes.

I think they are starting to realise. They were constantly praising the 'amazing' work he was doing keeping Everton just a point clear of relegation and holding out for so many nil nils and saying how risky it was getting rid of him. Now they have stopped mentioning him in that way. They seem genuinely confused at first that under Moyes we are actually scoring goals after being hoodwinked for so long that we didnt have the team to do this. Now the seem to be drawing the dots and are starting to see what we kind of knew for a long time this season
Even though we have probably over the last four seasons the weakest team/squad we have had for 20 years, i still look at the team line ups before each game and dont think there is that much between the two teams. This means we dont have too much of a gap to make up
They didn`t panic, he told them that he could " get no more out of this team ", which in order to protect their investment, left them no choice but to sack him.
In essence, he went to them and said " I`ve given up ", what else could they do but sack him?
He manipulated his own dismissal, to try and obtain maximum benefit for himself, which makes him not only a coward, but also a scumbag too.
Even you with you`re blinkered agenda against Moyes, must be able to see that these players are now playing with the shackles off and even if Moyes were to be replaced in the Summer ( he won`t ), that his appointment as it stands was the right choice.
Also from the comments of five players ( so far ) it would appear that the players, as well as the fans had had enough of him too. Couple that with his complete and utter lack of playing with any attacking intent or score goals and the threat of relegation had become incredibly real.
He threw the towel in and was quite rightly sacked, lets not try and pretend otherwise.

I don't often post much but I think you are hard on Moyes because you are judging him too much by his past record with us without taking into account what he's learned and how he has developed in the years since then. I acknowledge his record isn't particularly great but he seems to have mellowed, is more relaxed and is definitely more in tune with the players than Dyche was.

Hels been a good emergency manager, just as Dyche was.
I hope in the summer he's stood down though and we move on as a club: new owners, new stadium, new players, new manager.

If it's working, I wouldn't rock the boat. I really like the way Moyes is setting up this team, and it's getting results. Why go look for someone that looks more exciting on paper, because it's never as easy as that.
If another side needs defensive solidity to try to avoid relegation - yes, and who could blame them (thats what we did and it worked). If they want someone to develop and improve the squad in all areas to try to avoid future relegation battles - no. He is destined, in my opinion, to either short term jobs, or being appointed as a specific defence coach.

Moyes will move at too slow a pace. It'll be two steps forward and one step back. And he'll never ask for the cash we need to compete squad wise.
He's said this week that he thinks Everton are a club that have to work to make incremental steps forward.
Believe me, this is as good as it gets for Moyes. The fans will soon be frustrated with the lack of genuine progress in what is - let's have it right with Forest riding high - a terrible league.
