2024/25 Seamus Coleman

Absolute top drawer pro, even better fella, however it is symptomatic of our problems as a club that Seamus is still here,he should really have gone three to four years ago,not his fault, lad gives the lot for us and appears to be the motivator in chief off the pitch as well,I would be all for a testimonial at BMD but Christ I hope to god it is not Seamus or Young as our RB opening fixture at BMD!!!
You are spot on mate. I'd like to think the days of sentiment have gone and are now replaced with hard nosed business.

Next year's calendar has him on December.

He's getting another year.

No DCL though.

Will be sad to see him retire - get the feeling he was giving the dressing room a bit of backbone over the last few years. Maybe Pickford and Tarks keep that going.

Of course he gets judged on the pitch and time catches up with us all.

Would have been happy to see him move on a couple of years ago and I think from a playing side he might have got more time on the pitch if he had stepped down a level. It would not have affected his international career as most Ireland players play outside the top division. He`s been a bit part player for a few years now and now its a case that he can`t leave soon enough, and it won`t make us any weaker when he goes.

This would be up there with some of the worst decisions of the club.

The man always seems to be running the management.

"Seamus told me he will continue playing, so we extended his contract"

Etc etc

Lovely bloke blah blah
I'm not sure footballing ability would even factor into the decision.

'He's a great servant, a leader, Loyal Evertonian etc etc'

The testimonial in the Summer would have been the ideal breakpoint but unfortunately, it seems we're taking a familiar approach which usually results in predictable, costly failure.
