As a point of interest, in 1878 the City of Liverpool returned 3 members of Parliament.

Two were Tories & the other a Liberal.

The first Labour MP representing the ward of Everton was not elected until 1929.

And we got relegated shortly afterwards........bleeding red Labour.......
 
As a point of interest, one of the reasons the Tories kept getting elected in Liverpool after council elections and the general elections, was due to 'plural vote'. Whereby, a rate paying businessman had 2 votes, one where his business was and the other where he lived. It was the same for those affiliated with universities, they could vote in 2 place, the University ward and their home address. The same applied to properly owners, they had a vote where their property was and their home address.

This form of plural voting was stopped in the 1950 General and local elections. It was not until 1969 that plural voting was ended for local elections in Northern Ireland.

If you vote Tory or (God forbid) for those knuckle dragging Kippers you cannot claim to be an Evertonian and are not welcome at Goodison.

Find yourself a rugby union team to follow or join the Barmy Army on one of their 'colonial tours'...

All adds up to open trade war rallying cry - something that would have happened anyway Brexit or no Brexit - rather than the [Poor language removed] footing around trade war that has been happening for years. The UK was cocooned from such open hostile trade war measures by the EU because they were tolerated. Now that the UK are leaving such niceties will not be shown.

The US has never hesitated in putting the UK in its place as far as trade war goes. Record fines after fines for the UK's financial industry by the US authorities over UK financial 'irregularities' - fixing the Libor rate and other financial dealings and practices the US deemed 'dodgey' (even though they were doing the same thing), the US getting annoyed with the UK because it wanted to handle the Chinese currency in Europe alongside Frankfurt (with Deusche Bank singled out for a potential fine that would have bankrupted it) - and since Trump 's election and trade war cry of 'America first' - reminiscent of 1930s US protectionism - Merkel has been forced to wake up and smell the coffee. The message is get tough or get trampled under foot. And she will not allow Germany to suffer so will protect the EU project at all costs.

For the UK, Brexit negotiations will be very tough indeed. And the Tories are just not up to the task.

Ps, in our brand new shiny stadium can we have a very very small section, no more than 10 seats, to accommodate our Tory supporting supporters.
