Highland League kicks off today without recent perennial winners Cove so much more open.
Down at the bottom end there’s been an interesting development , with similarly perennial bottom club Fort William linking up with Caley Thistle to take on 9 of their recent u18s team. It should improve Fort dramatically but it’s not an easy league for youngsters to develop in , I will watch this withinterest.

Top team by a mile promoted and the bottom team by a country mile improved, it will be interesting if nothing else, you enjoy it BL and good luck to your team..

Indeed I do enjoy the HL games, bovril , pie, chat with mates , banter with rival supporters all the while standing closer to the pitch than the nearest seats at Bramley Moor in temperatures often not much above freezing :) .
My team won 3-1 today , as did the three other “favourites “ , should be an interesting season.

Hearts lose to East Fife on pens......

Hibs are rumoured to be trying to sign Fraser Hornby on loan. Anyone heard about this?
I’ve not seen a club named but Unsworth has indicated that Hornby along with Morgan Feeney will go out on loan. Heckingbottom must have a decent reputation at Everton , having previously had Callum Connolly then Joe Williams on loan when at Barnsley. A good move for Hornby if it happens.

I don’t know if anybody watched this week’s documentary “The Fort” about the trials and tribulations of Fort William FC ‘s 18/19 Highland League season , worth a watch, real grass roots stuff. Anyway, they had their first win in close to two years last night beating Nairn County 5-2 in the North of Scotland Cup. They’re on their way back ...... :)

Ayr Utd 4 v 2 Morton

All pre-season optimism disappeared as soon as Ayr's 3rd goal hit the back of the net to give them a 3-0 lead and although Morton rallied briefly, a 4th was always on the cards. On the basis of this showing it's gonnae be a long hard slog this season. Well deserved win for Ayr Utd.
