Exactly Mark, if you don't live up here you will never understand the dislike (don't like the word hate) for the old firm,as an example the nearest club to me is Stenhousemuir whose average crowd is about 300, I can guarantee that at least twice that amount leave the area every week to watch the old firm , multiply that by all the other towns in Scotland and you may see the picture emerging.
When my kids were at their local non denomination school 90% of the kids are Rangers supporters and at that age peer pressure usually wins.
Old firm speak is the main football talk in all local pubs also, throw into the mix murders and serious assaults over the years purely over supporting the 'wrong' team.
I was born in Merseyside but have lived up here for 38 years, I don't hate the old firm but I do have a dislike for the stranglehold that they have on Scottish football and how they see it as their 'right' to carve up the trophies between them.
Do you not think that Scotland would be better served if the support and wealth was divided up more equally amongst more clubs within other cities and towns?

probs would be yeah, do you take issue with all the wirralites supporting everton instead of tranmere though? its hardly just celtic and rangers in football that this equates to

scottish football games id watch generally consist of the old firm, hibs, hearts and aberdeen as its merely a passing interest

^^^ This.

they arent chief

it was in relation to how the rest of the SPL feel about the old firm, i was saying its not like i support motherwell or ICT and i support everton as a side passion therefore the feelings of someone like that isnt how i feel.

my point is i dont really understand hating a glaswegian team, id prefer a strong old firm where theres a fair degree of passion and unpredictability rather than know celtic are simply going to beat rangers.

much like any neutral would rather we didnt roll over for liverpool in any derby

Why does it need to be a strong Old Firm though?

What's wrong with Aberdeen being the side to challenge? Or Hibs? Or even Hearts?

Why has it go to be Rangers?

Why does it have to be Celtic by that logic? Also the other teams have had their chance to challenge Celtic when rangers were climbing the leagues and as much as Aberdeen did well it was never really in doubt was it.

I’d personally love to see a strong scottish league, who didn’t enjoy Hibs beating rangers in the final a few years ago. As a neutral with passing interest i just want to see competition rather than someone romping it.

It doesn't have to be Celtic, but so long as they remain sensible with their money they ain't going anywhere

I don't have any truck with anyone from Wirral supporting Everton......... I'm one of them,I used to watch Tranmere on Friday and Everton on Saturday so my conscience is clear in that respect.
You're right in saying it's not just Celtic and Rangers but it is in Scotland which in the big scheme of things is a small nation and if you can't see or appreciate that then don't bother trying to discuss it because it then comes across to those who face it all the time as something you don't know anything about nor are prepared to understand.
Nobody wants to see one team romping it but from your previous posts you come across as a Rangers fan which appears to be clouding your judgement somewhat.

Not really, I don’t have a massive affection for either side. Celtic because of that song and everyone who seems to troll Corbyn etc seem to have rangers fan in their Bio!

I do enjoy watching big derbies though so a stronger rangers makes a better viewing for me! That 5-1 was embarrassing last season

NOPE! Not buying your bullsheite, total Ragers fan...next!
Looks like our game on Saturday will be off, wouldn't be surprised as the weather up here is unbelievable. Was hoping for a few in The Pot Still in Glasgow, beating Them and getting back to my local to give the Celtic fans a hard time :D, Ye've gotta dream ;)

Ton whoever you are agree totally tried to reason with him but don't think we'll ever see Corky and him in the same room, one and the same talk but don't listen.

Get used to it, it's going to be embarrassing for Ranges for some years to come, and while you're at it ask your mate Corky when he's going to take me up on that bet.

No one cares about what you are buying or not buying. The poster in question doesn't have a case to answer to anyone. They can support whoever they like.;)

My kareoke song is penny arcade aswell............

Honestly believe what you want, doesn’t bother me but your issue about people from small towns supporting Celtic and Rangers isn’t just in Scotland it’s everywhere. I go the odd accrington Stanley game (hence why I keep an eye out for windass) and they struggle to get home Gates of 1500 and when you drive through the town they’re all wearing United and RS shirts

If you go to Accrington Stanley (credit to you for that) and it's It's Utd and RS shirts that is a localised problem in England, if you go to Leyton the Orient are in the shadows of West Ham and Millwall, that is a localised problem,if you go to Walsall, they're in the shadows of Villa and Birmingham, that is a localised problem.
Now transport yourself to Scotland you can go to any wee club in Scotland and from that town or village in the main there will be a large percentage of old firm supporters with local old firm social clubs taking buses from that wee village or town into Glasgow every week right under their noses, this is a NATIONAL problem with the SAME TWO TEAMS.
Your original statement said you can't understand why folk hate(sic) the old firm, please tell me now which bit you don't really understand and I will simplify further for you.
