Look, I agree with much of what you are saying there. I know there's an idiot element among Rangers supporters, anyone singing about someone's death is sub-human. The singing about TB's death was condemned by the Rangers supporters association, as well it should. But we could probably both point to examples of horrific behaviour among our respective fan base, e.g. celtic fans, and other club fans singing and laughing about the deaths of Walter Smith & Andy Goram. Plus the idiots that think making fun of the Ibrox disaster is acceptable.
I would say the same thing about Celtic and cherry picking, but this will get us nowhere. I think we can both agree that this behaviour, from any side is not acceptable in a, supposedly, civilised society like ours.

I didn't time it personally, but it's widely reported that the minute's silence was cut short, at 40 seconds roughly. It may seem trivial arguing over 20 seconds but it's the principle.

Anyway, thanks for the reasonable and considered response.

I don't think it is trivial to be honest. If the silence was disrupted so badly it had to be cut short that is really bad but, until I see actual proof, I will be a tad sceptical.

No one should disrupt a minutes silence, but it's like Rangers fans deliberately try to whip up the Celtic support before it in the hope Celtic supporters will disrupt it, and be seen as the bad guys.

In the last game at Ibrox, just before kick off, Rangers supporters unfurled a banner with a list of perverts who had been at Celtic Boys Club alongside names of ex Celtic players and managers like Jock Stein, Billy McNeil, and Lou Macari etc. Personally, I don't think this was a coincidence. I think it was planned to anger the Celtic fans. It's been reported Rangers fans were singing about The Pope, and not in a complimentary way, before the minute silence in the week a former Pope had died.

I also don't think Frank McGarvey not being named before the minutes silence was an oversight either.

Unless it is an ongoing tradition, I don't think I would expect Rangers to have a minutes silence for McGarvey, in the same way I wouldn't expect Celtic or St Mirren to have one when an ex Rangers player dies.

If it is an ongoing tradition, then fair enough - they should have done it. Otherwise, let Celtic and St Mirren do their own tribute

Iirc, Celtic had 3 silences for Jim Baxter.

I can't remember how that panned out. I'm guessing one at our own home game, and the others at away games.

Like I said, if it is tradition, then it should have been honoured. It's not a tradition I am familiar with, so don't know if the silences for Baxter were one-offs or not, or how they were observed.

In hindsight though, if they included McGarvey in the silence, absolutely no one would have broken it ?‍♂️

Daily Record linking Big Ange with the Everton job! ??
I wonder how much truth there is to this. I know his name is getting around with the attractive football Celtic are playing just now. It would be interesting to see how his football philosophy would work in England. I suppose you could say that Celtic were in a mess before Ange took over. If I remember correctly, their results weren't great at first, I wonder if he will have the same luxury of time at Everton

I would say there is a strong possibility that's how it would have panned out. ;)

I don't suppose we'll ever know why Rangers decided not to mention Frank's name, or Pele's, in the minutes silence.

Aye, too much of a basket case
Hahah, that too lol

I mean in general as in - he has brought success to everywhere, can't take that away from him, but in reality we're a huge dumpster fire and saving us is quite a bit harder because we have no structure and no balance.

Even with Celtic - they were several players away from having a complete team (imho, obviously Celtic fans here know better), even if they were in a bit of a pickle. In that same regard - we're honestly dreadful. He'd need a full on transfer window to try that and I honestly don't believe he'd want to rattle himself by moving away in January. He can (and honestly as much as I dislike it - already has really) win the title with Celtic and either build onwards or challenge himself. Coming to us to struggle in the middle of a season would definitely be pointless for him lol
