But it's this year we're talking about.

I said getting to a European final is more enjoyable than the year long slog of winning the league, especially when you win it as often as Celtic, but the money for qualifying for the Champions League is too much to turn down so I would rather win the league than get to a final.

If Rangers could have won on Wednesday and got to the group stage of next years Champions league that would have been the perfect scenario, for them anyway.

That’s fair.

I guess the long term future and the fact the Celtic board are a bit tight is good enough reasoning.

End of the day, for me if Celtic and Rangers do well I’m happy, and if you make some boss memories along the way even better!

To be fair to @The Celtic View - that's pretty much how local teams here in Bulgaria approach this I feel, so there's definitely logic in it, financially.

CL first, the rest are... there to play, kind of. Even for our bogstandard footballers and financial situation - the money from the EL (let alone the ECL) are not very great if you're one of the 3 bigger teams.

If you're not - you do your best and the money obviously helps, but usually it's not the small guys qualifying.

Lots of reports too saying that no water for sale inside the ground with fans suffering the effects of dehydration. Doesn’t sound like fun at 30C.

The organisation of the final seems to be a complete shambles, and there should be plenty of water on sale in such a hot place. It definitely wouldn't have been fun, but some of the posts are a tad hysterical.

I saw a post from a man, who claimed to be a doctor, saying people were running into toilets and hysterically pushing on taps and people were collapsed on the toilet floors. I know Seville is insanely hot, but it was only a couple of hours without water. I experienced this in 2003. It's uncomfortable, but not remotely close to the near death experiences that are being reported. People were just hot and thirsty. They weren't trapped in a desert for days. They had all day to drink water.

Another poster said he had been given a Coke and a Fanta inside the ground by a fellow bluenose then, I think at half time, went looking for water so his father could take his medicine, but there was none available. Even the taps in the toilets had been turned off. Maybe I'm getting cynical in my old age, but couldn't he have washed down the Gary Ablett's with the Coke, or Fanta?

Also, Seville have said demand was three times the normal amount at their games, but when they tried to replenish the water their staff were attacked by fans so they decided to close the kiosks. They didn't state which set of fans attacked the staff, but whoever they are they're responsible for the kiosks being closed. Surely no one expects people to be forced to work after being attacked?

Good luck to Rangers today, but i wouldn't begrudge Hearts the win either.

Either Rangers or Hearts will be having a party, while poor old Hibs will be asleep in their beds.?

Cork Hibs? lol

I am old enough to remember them playing Rovers at Milltown. Always a formidable team - sorry they are no more. Just checked and they won the LOI in 70/71. I actually remember that team although I was very young.

There was Cork Celtic as well. A load of Cork based league of Ireland teams, have come and went over the years. Waterford United had a serious team during that era as well.
