Scot Gemmill. An Everton player between 1999–2004, making 97 appearances.
What are your memories of him?
I wonder if you could make a full team of players whose names are also countries.

I don't know. I feel like Campbell is a true legend for saving the club from certain doom. Whereas players like Farelly, Pembridge, and Gemmill were the reason we needed saving.Along with Campbell he played a huge part in us staying up when he first arrived at the club.
People need to put more respect on his name.
Stephen IrelandI wonder if you could make a full team of players whose names are also countries.
Scotland Gemmill
Alan Brazil
Matt Holland
That midfield came up again petit/viera and Keane/Scholes. Not sure we are the benchmark for the era in fairnessPeople tell me the standard of the Prem was much higher back in these days as well.. our current midfielders are way better.

We had some of our worst premier league seasons under peter johnson and after narrowly avoiding relegation in 1998 fans stormed the pitch chanting "we want johnson out". I'm not his biggest fan but I'm not sure it's fair to pin decline on Kenwright, especially since he oversaw a period of relative stability (if not exactly success!). We only started flirting with relegation again once moshiri got involved in 2016.Terrible team, terrible kit.
Disappointing.
As for Scot, he did a job. He sort of summed us up: honest but mediocre. I think he was a better player than plenty we had back then. But the club had entered the Kenwright age, and that meant decline. The Walter era was probably the most depressing I can recall - worse even than the Dyche deduction year in the sense that we could focus on defiant survival under Dyche's siege mentality. Under Walter, we were a slowly sinking ship, listing and drifing while Kenwright told us lies (and got away with them because he wasn't Peter Johnson).
We're good at that, Evertonians: excusing an unacceptable current because the past was, apparently, worse.
Forgot all about him. Just looked him up and he's in trouble for acting as an unregulated agent.Stephen Ireland
