In all fairness, that 30 minute period, or however long it was when he scored those two free kicks, were the only things people could pick out when trying to argue that Baines was any good last season. Literally did nothing else remarkable all season.

Fair point. We had that "should we sell Baines for 16m?" poll last season and it went 50/50, which surprised a lot of blues.

He's got a point to prove this season.

best bit of advise you'll ever give yourself !!.it's funny though,when I get back in from watching local sport,I go and find the part of the thread where we've equalised or gone on to win the game.usually the three pages before is nothing but FFS,were rubbish,etc. then the posts turn into we're world beaters as the game turns into our favour.we're a fickle lot us Evertonians !.

haha! I love the match threads because of this passionate energy. The words are nonsense, but it's still fun (when we win or come back to draw a hard game...when we lose it's crap any way we look at it).

He certainly does have a point to prove as he was bang average last season and that's just not good enough, not with 60k Seamus Coleman outshining him on a weekly basis.

Poor pre season. If we get 3 out of 9 points from first 3 games like last year I'll be happy. To be fair, whilst we did ok against juventus and Real Madrid last year, we were utterly diabolical against real Betis at Goodison and it didn't effect us so it's difficult to judge a pre season under Roberto at the mo.

Seriously, I would love for Baines to regularly play LW or Attacking-Mid (alongside Ross). Oviedo to play LB.

Dunno if Baines would be any good on the wing... maybe worth a try if we get lucky and get some poo team in one of the cups or if we're six nil up at half time.

Pienaar frustrated today, constantly dallying on the ball and turning in-field or passing backwards.

Hoping Atsu can make a real difference being direct and pacy, we're crying out for that. Mirallas over Pienaar on the left, and Atsu starting on the right or at least competing with McGeady for a start.
