SC Paderborn 9th August

Very weird pre season, I get the feeling it was really badly organised.
Mentioned the same thing the other day. We are massively undercooked going into the 1st game doesnt mean we won't beat Leicester but were crying out for another forward

I won't lie, I'm worried & can't think of many things to be optimistic about from this pre-season. The whole pre-season, from the way it was organised, the lack of game time for Rom & Mirallas & the results - has been poor. 5 games, 3 loses & 2 draws, speak for itself, you'd like to think we'd have been able to generate some momentum going into the new season & start on a high.

The only way we'll be able to judge it properly though will be after the first few games of the season. If we've won 3 out of 3 at the end of the month then no one will give a [Poor language removed] about Paderborn or Celta Vigo.

This weeks a big week, hopefully we can get Atsu wrapped up early, Rom & Mirallas benefit from the behind closed doors game & get a few decent sessions under there belt & Coleman shakes off his injury in time for Saturday.

Perhaps RM has really worked the lads hard on the training pitch to compensate for the lack of pre-season friendlies. That and perhaps the fact that at least 75% of our attacking weaponry has been absent has contributed to a run of poor pre-season results. Maybe some tapering off throughout next week willl see a sharper more energetic side take the field at Leicester. Here's hoping!

Why have you removed 40 points from me?

There's a small handful of lads here that regularly multi-neg-rep other blues for spurious reasons.

Abuses the reputation concept, in my opinion, rendering it worthless.

So next time you see a lad with a negative red reputation number, don't automatically think it's because he's a WUM or a kopite invader. He's just as likely to be a normal Evertonian who's randomly fallen prey to one of these squadron-safari bombs.

Last pre-season home friendly we looked really crap.

This year we are holding back a lot more. We've got plenty in the tank, however I still have this feeling we are going to lose the first game of the season. Regardless of how well prepared we are…

My theory was that he was deliberately planning on building up the players slower/a lot more cautiously this time so they don't suffer blowout in January again. We could potentially be playing 50+ games this season and he's known this since May.

Confident he knows what he's doing regarding fitness - it's the technical play that has me concerned.

working on what on the training pitch though ? apart from about 15 minutes in the second half against celta vigo , our standard of football hasn't been out of first gear all pre season.

After the Fulham cup game last year, said to me mate I hoped the manager had learned something from that game, the rest of last season suggests he did. Bet he's learned loads from pre-season, I'll hold off fuming till next week.

They've probably been training intensely so i'm not surprised they were all tired, didn't see the game though so I can't really say.

Still think we'll be fine though, once the full first team squad is out there and ready we will bag some goals and normality will be restored! I'm sure we had a really bad pre-season under Moyes and then had one of our ever strongest starts? Let's just wait and see!

Of course they are, That's what pre season is about, They have had time off so they need to get there fitness levels back up

I would think the intensity would ease off this week in preparation for the opening game, I aspect them to look a lot fitter and at the races come Saturday

Losing games like this is never good. On the other hand, we don't know if there was something specific we were working on, or if the main aim of pre season was blooding youngsters. I imagine the Leicester game will shape up something like this, and which should be more than enough to beat them

Howard
Hibbert Jags Distin Baines
McGeady Barry McCarthy Pienaar
Barkley
Naismith

With Rom, Kev, Atsu Besic on the bench
are you serious we dont look capable of winning against anyone barry has been tripe baines shocking hibbert a joke jags hardly been seen pienaar been injured
