Hard to disagree with any of that well written article.
This for me is perhaps the most interesting bit " It’s thefirst real test of FarhadMoshiri’s tenure, and what a test it is as you can assume Martinez has the steadfast backing of Kenwright who is still very much ininfluence at theclub" . Just who will make the " stay or go" decision and if it's go just who will conduct the search for a new manager, and will it be the same as in the past, a young up and coming manager like Eddie Howe or an experienced manager like Pellegrini.?

Brilliant post Chico, it sums it up nicely, and as one of those older supporters I must agree that I have never felt so upset about the state of that team last night. We have gone from a team that could outscore anyone but defend like an open door to one that can no longer score or even pretend to defend in the space of a season. The confidence has drained away from the team and the supporters. We rightly knocked Martinez for some of his stubbornness and his unwillingness to make a change, well now it's out of his hands and we need leadership from the board not to make a similar mistake. Sorry Roberto, you are a lovely man and you have done a lot to improve the quality of the players available but if you can't motivate them or coach them to win then what is the point. I feel desperately sorry for our fans who are going to Wembley. I hope to god that somehow a miracle happens and they come home happy, but it's like we all know exactly what will happen. Time to go.........

been too long @chicoazul

honestly, seeing those pictures really makes me sad. he is such an infectiously positive manager, I WANT him to succeed. he just can't and/or won't.

Unfortunately, I think that his positive nature has been his downfall. At first it was refreshing listening to him extract the positives from a bad situation and I personally was hoping that he was also looking at the negatives and looking at how he could learn from them. Unfortunately, it's pretty clear that he isn't learning. The same mistakes are being made over and over again. Opposition are now exploiting these negatives with ease and finding increasing easier to cater for our strengths. You can only get away with a one dimensional attitude for so long. You see it every now and then. Blackpool are a prime example. When they first came up, they offered something new, but as soon as teams knew how to deal with them, they were put right back in their place.

In this modern day with all the technology available, it's so much easier to analyse a one dimensional team and plan accordingly. He simply has to change it up every once in a while otherwise he will continue to fail. It's been depressing going to Goodison this season waiting for the inevitable.

Sadly, spot on lad

I cant help reflect on what the majority of us wanted post Moyes, a caviller approach rather then a result based stoic balanced display we were used to under Davey.

Seems like the balance is a little bit harder to find.

I wouldn't want Moyes back for a moment, but it's easy to forget some of good football we played when he was manager.
