Save It For The Morning After

I think the only thing that makes me sad about the potential sacking is that, as Chico said, Martinez does seem to get Everton.

The way he bought into the history, the way he seems to have an ambitious project and the way that he seems to want Everton to achieve so much.

It's just that all this philosophy, all this optimism and "lofty goals", it isn't translating into what matters most in modern football... Results.

I've been on the fence for months now, but in recent weeks I think I've been sliding over the side. These results can't just be down to "form" or "luck".

The players aren't playing well, and that is partly on them. But they aren't getting the structure, the coaching and the motivation to work cohesively as a unit and the team is quite obviously suffering. They need shamed for the lack of passion, yes, but the tactical errors aren't up to them.

Yep. Nice fella, that Martinez, but...

Sorry it didn't work, but this is unacceptable. He's be great on television, you know. Perhaps his day may come someday, but it isn't now, and it won't be here. We both know it now. Wish this could have happened without all the pain, but it never does.

Sums it up, Chico.

It's interesting that you talk about quick turnovers of managers being a symptom of a failing club. Depending on your opinion of post-Emirates Wenger, it could be argued that there isn't much to suggest longevity makes a huge amount of difference either.

For what little it's worth, my take is that football is more of a battle between boardrooms now. You seem to succeed by recognising when to chop and change managers and players before value, ability and motivation begin to decline.

I'm starting to understand why most older fans don't really engage with the goings on at the club outside of the first and final whistles on a Saturday afternoon.

Sadly of late his deluded comments on TV have made him an embarrassment to himself and the club.

Chico, your grammar and spell check are crap. But beyond that, your words and point are fantastic, and correct.

Thank you kind Sir, there is a lot to think about in what you wrote.
